Cyber Directorate alerts Israelis of threat messages as Lebanese media reports Hezbollah calls

Israeli citizens have recently been receiving messages aimed at intimidating them, the Israel National Cyber Directorate said Tuesday. The statement comes as Lebanese media reports that Hezbollah contacted residents in northern Israel threatening them to evacuate Kiryat Shmona.

“This is a familiar influence attempt in the digital space: threatening, dramatic, or pressuring messages sent directly to citizens in an effort to make them act out of fear,” the Cyber Directorate said.

Meanwhile, Lebanese media circulated a recording of an alleged call from Hezbollah to residents of Kiryat Shmona, in which a message in Hebrew says: “This city is ours. This is a warning. Evacuate the city while you can still decide for yourself. When we arrive, we will decide whether you will be captured or killed.”

The Cyber Directorate urged the public not to respond to any messages or click on attached links, warning that the campaign is intended to spread panic through intimidation.
