Calls mount for Lebanon to state neutrality amid US-Iran tensions
A Lebanese political source opposed to Hezbollah told Kan News that pressure is mounting on the government to declare neutrality in any Iran-U.S. confrontation.
The source said Hezbollah’s rivals are demanding a clear stance, warning against the group dragging Lebanon into conflict. Despite tough rhetoric from Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, the source assessed the organization may avoid involvement, fearing a harsh Israeli response.
Separately, Reuters reported that Israel warned Lebanese officials that the country could suffer heavy damage, including to civilian infrastructure, if Hezbollah intervenes. Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji reportedly expressed concern that even the international airport could be at risk.
