Benjamin Netanyahu approves renewal of talks with Syria: “We will safeguard Druze security”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday approved the resumption of negotiations with Syria, his office said, noting the talks have U.S. backing as part of Donald Trump’s regional peace push.
Israel emphasized border security, preventing threats, and advancing regional stability and economic cooperation. The sides also agreed to continue talks, including guarantees for the security of Syria’s Druze minority.
Earlier, Al Jazeera reported that over 90% of disputed issues have been resolved. Talks had stalled last month over Israel’s refusal to withdraw from areas captured during the war, with Trump now pressing for progress during Netanyahu’s U.S. visit.
