Church of England delivers the final death knell to Israel

At a time when the UK has turned bitterly against its own Jewish community, the final death knell, waiting in the wings, was bound to happen – the announcement by the State Church, identifying Israel as a “colonial enterprise built on racism.”

It was the legislative body of the church, called the General Synod, which “overwhelmingly voted in favor of a motion to “hear a Palestinian Christian text that describes the State of Israel as a ‘colonial enterprise built on racism.’”

If you’re wondering how much power that legislative body wields, the answer is a lot! That is because they have the right to pass national laws and political positions for the country, as well as official doctrinal views. Composed of three groups – bishops, clergy and church members, together, they determine the course taken by the church. And in this case, that direction is decidedly antagonistic towards the Jewish state.

Anyone caught blindsided by this recent action has not been paying attention, because when a government allows open vilification of a particular ethnicity, hiding behind the guise of free speech and the right to protest, they have, essentially, abandoned their moral responsibility to regard all of its citizens as those deserving of human dignity along with mutual respect and tolerance.

That is what has systematically been allowed to take place as hundreds of thousands have flooded bridges, roads and campuses, shouting their vitriol, not only against the only democratic country in the Middle East, known for its protection of human rights, but towards its own 0.5% minority Jewish population.

True to its history, the U.K. is, yet again, repeating a dark past when Jews were forced out. That period, known as the Edict of Expulsion in 1290, was riddled with expulsions and pogroms, initiated by King Edward I. And although it came to an end in 1656 when Jews were readmitted into England, Jews continued to experience unrest, such as what occurred in 1947, when anti-Jewish riots took place, “targeting Jewish-owned business and synagogues throughout Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow.”

That disgraceful sentiment returned following the October 7 massacre, which awakened the sleeping giant of British antisemitism that massively grew by the sheer numbers of Muslim migrants who flooded the U.K. over the course of the last 30 years.

But they weren’t alone in their contempt for the Jewish state, or the people who shared the same bloodline and, in this case, the same geographic location. Much like the church, they used the savage attack upon Israel as a justification to blame Jews, whether those living in the homeland, or in their midst, as being the cause of racism, leading to a colonialist takeover of so-called Palestinian land.

Of course, one might expect such an ignorant disregard of history from Muslim migrants, with a political agenda, but how does the supposedly educated and enlightened body of a church intentionally overlook the 1947 UN vote of partition which legitimately and democratically sanctioned the desire to create a Jewish homeland?

If anything, those 33 nations, who voted in favor of the establishment of a Jewish state, should be labeled as the true colonialists, because up until that point, the Jewish people had virtually no say or power to forcibly take authority of any territory.

The irony in all of this is that the British Empire was considered to be among the foremost colonialist powers of the mid-16th century, only rivaled by Spain and Portugal. Expanding globally, they took over parts of Canada, the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus and, most importantly, Mandatory Palestine.

So how disingenuous does it sound when the official church of the U.K. accuses Israel of being a colonial enterprise built on racism? If it weren’t so pathetic, it might be fodder for a British comedy show.

But it’s no laughing matter when a state church decides to turn on Jewish people, given that their Savior shared the same ethnic origin. Willing to run the risk of being cursed, this so-called Christian body has chosen to erase one of the most sacred portions of scripture, Gen. 12:3, “I will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her.”

At that point, is it fair to say that the faith has been politically hijacked by a group of anti-Jewish, anti-Israel activists, whose main goal is to delegitimize the land which God swore to the sons of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

And if that is their objective, how does King Charles react to the fact that he is the head of a church which has publicly come out against Israel? Does he support such a declaration? Will he agree to abide by this new 14-page document titled, “A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide?”

If he does, he will repeat the actions of King Edward I, whose dastardly and shameful expulsion of Jews caused him to go down in infamy, remembered as one of the evilest figures in Jewish history.

Will King Charles concur with the findings of the Synod who has called “Israel’s military actions in Gaza as a genocidal war, the continuation of the Zionist project to seize all of Palestine, emptied of its Palestinian people?”

And would that not be a bitter betrayal to the king’s paternal grandmother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, named by Yad Vashem as “Righteous Among the Nations?” Being given that title for having risked her life in Nazi-occupied Athens to hide members of a Jewish family, the king’s grandmother is actually buried in Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives cemetery.

One can only imagine what she would think about her grandson if he were to embrace these latest despicable actions of the church which he is said to lead. And how will this impact the remaining 300,000 members of the U.K. since church document calls for “global movements of resistance, advocacy and popular pressure including boycotts, divestment and sanctions?”

In essence, any attacks on the Jewish community will be church-sanctioned, excusing those acts as being religiously pardoned. If that’s not a death knell to the Jews among them, what is?
