Nikolay Mladenov visited Ramallah on Friday and met with senior officials in the Palestinian Authority, according to a diplomatic source familiar with the details. Mladenov is designated to serve as director general of the 'Peace Council' in the Gaza Strip.

Yesterday, Mladenov met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials in Israel ahead of the transition to the next phase of the Trump plan. During the meeting, Netanyahu emphasized that Hamas must disarm and that the Gaza Strip must be demilitarized in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point framework.

Netanyahu returned from his meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago a week ago, after agreeing with the U.S. administration to move forward to Phase 2 of the ceasefire agreement. This phase includes the opening of the Rafah border crossing and continued preparations for the establishment of a “green city,” where Gaza residents would live without the presence of Hamas or IDF forces.
