Against the backdrop of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s (MBS) upcoming visit to Washington, D.C., in 10 days – where he is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump – a member of the Saudi royal family said that while normalization with Israel is not imminent, there will likely be an effort to lay the groundwork for it, Kan News reported on Saturday evening.

According to the Kan report, a source within the Saudi royal family said that after MBS' visit to Washington, there is an expectation of a renewed attempt to restart dialogue between Israel and Saudi Arabia under American auspices, similar to talks that took place before the Hamas Oct. 7, 2023, massacre. Essentially, this would be an effort to “thaw the ice” between the nations and bring their positions closer together after they drifted apart due to the war.

However, the Saudi source clarified that Riyadh remains firmly committed to the two-state solution as a prerequisite for any possible normalization with Israel. “In our view, this will ensure that wars like this don’t happen every five years,” the source told Kan News.

Regarding Kazakhstan’s joining the Abraham Accords, the Saudi source said that Riyadh views this as a positive sign – an effort to create an Arab-Muslim consensus around the Abraham Accords.
