US military footage exposes Hamas stealing humanitarian aid in violation of Gaza ceasefire

Terror group denies 'false claim' and alleges 'propaganda campaign'

The U.S. military's Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed incriminating footage on Saturday, which showed Hamas terrorists attacking and stealing a humanitarian aid truck in the coastal enclave.

The terror group later denied the "false" claim in a statement, saying it lacked "evidence on the ground" and is "part of a systematic disinformation campaign."

A U.S. military drone documented the footage of Hamas operatives violating the Gaza ceasefire.

“The coordination center in Kiryat Gat received a report through video surveillance from a U.S. MQ-9 drone flying above the convoy to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel,” the U.S. military said in an official statement.

“The militants attacked the driver and stole the aid and the truck,” the military added. It is currently unclear where the Hamas attackers took the stolen aid truck.

“Over the past week, international partners have delivered more than 600 trucks of commercial goods and aid to Gaza daily,” the U.S. military announced. CENTCOM stressed that Hamas' actions threaten the international efforts to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza.  “This incident undermines those efforts.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio blasted the Hamas attack and theft of the humanitarian aid truck.

“This theft undermines international efforts in support of President Trump’s 20 Point Plan to deliver critical assistance to innocent civilians,” Rubio stated. “Hamas is the impediment. They must lay down their arms and stop their looting so that Gaza can have a brighter future."

The New York Times (NYT) reported last month that the U.S. began drone surveillance over Gaza in an effort by the Trump administration to monitor the shaky ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

By flying its own surveillance drones over the coastal enclave, Washington seeks to receive independent real-time data on the complex situation in Gaza.

Dan Shapiro, who served as the U.S. ambassador to Israel under the Obama administration, had criticized the measure. “This is a very intrusive version of US monitoring on a front where Israel perceives an active threat,” Shapiro told the NYT. “If there was total transparency and total trust between Israel and the US, there wouldn’t be a need for this,” he continued. “But obviously the US wants to eliminate any possibility of misunderstanding."

Hamas has a history of stealing humanitarian aid and then using it to finance its terrorist activities against Israel and strengthen its control over the population in Gaza.

In July, Israel revealed footage that showed Hamas operatives stealing humanitarian aid in Gaza. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar condemned Hamas and called on the international community to hold the terrorist organization responsible for the humanitarian suffering in Gaza.

“Anyone who cares about the humanitarian situation must ask themselves: who is responsible for the suffering of Gaza’s residents? Who is responsible for the war and for its continuation? There is only one clear answer: Hamas,” Sa’ar stated at the time.

Much of the international community has focused on Israel's role in the humanitarian situation in Gaza, while giving less attention to Hamas’ reported use of civilians as human shields.

Earlier this week, Hamas violated the fragile ceasefire by killing an IDF reservist in Gaza. Israel responded by carrying out “powerful” strikes against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
