A new film titled "Frequency of Fear," produced and directed by Danny Abeckaser, brings to the screen the dramatic story of the Israeli military’s “exploding pager” operation against Hezbollah in September 2024.

“I, like everyone else who heard about the beeper operation, was in awe,” Abeckaser recently said. “To be able to tell the story of how they pulled it off was a dream come true.”

The movie script was written by Kosta Kondilopoulos, and will star Doron Ben-David, Itzik Cohen, Marina Maximilian, and Daniella Pick Tarantino, according to reports. The cast also features Ariel Yagen from the show "Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints."

The Israeli operation on Sept. 17, 2024, unfolded like a scene from a spy thriller. Israeli intelligence had spent years preparing the “exploding pager” strike – developing specialized explosives, planting targeted ads, infiltrating existing distribution networks, and ultimately delivering the booby-trapped devices to Hezbollah’s top operatives. When the pagers were detonated simultaneously, thousands of units exploded in the hands of the terrorists, followed moments later by hundreds of rigged walkie-talkies. The coordinated blasts killed dozens and injured thousands of Hezbollah militants.

Northern Israel came under thousands of rocket and drone attacks launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon after the initial Hamas Oct. 7 attack in southern Israel. The Hezbollah rocket fire forced the evacuation of more than 60,000 Israeli residents from the region.

In November, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Israel’s involvement in the Hezbollah pager sabotage, telling his Cabinet that he had personally authorized the operation.
