‘Trump was right again’ – Amb. Huckabee visits Netanyahu corruption trial in highly unusual move
Ambassador praises 'extraordinary bonding' between Trump and Netanyahu

The American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, attended the corruption trial hearing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Tel Aviv’s District Court on Wednesday, in a diplomatically highly unusual move.
Asked by reporters whether he was there on instructions from U.S. President Donald Trump, he replied that he was at the court “to see what’s going on,” adding he thought it was “fascinating.”
Later in the day, he wrote on 𝕏: “I stopped by the trial of Netanyahu in Tel Aviv today. My conclusion? Trump is right…again.”
Huckabee joined Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, who also attended the hearing.

Huckabee added a link to a post by Trump from two weeks ago, where the president dubbed the trial a “political witch hunt,” deriding it as much ado about “nothing (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.).”
In an apparent nod to this statement, Huckabee was photographed holding a Bugs Bunny Doll in the court building.

Both Huckabee and Trump were sharply criticized by critics of the government for allegedly intervening in the Israeli justice system.
At an earlier event in Tel Aviv, Huckabee told reporters, “I’m going to go by today and sit through a little of it. It should be very interesting to be a witness to it.”
“It’s a matter of representing what the president has said repeatedly,” Huckabee explained, “The president has made his position very clear. He has not intervened in the proceedings or in the outcome. He recognizes that [it] has to go its own way. But it’s a personal thing for him. He considers the prime minister a friend.”

Their friendship was strengthened further by Netanyahu’s visit to Washington last week, he added.
“They had an extraordinary bonding, if you will. And there’s such a partnership between the United States and Israel…We have allies, but we only have one partner, Israel. It’s a unique relationship.”
The court hearing ended early on Wednesday due to the deteriorating situation in southwestern Syria and on the Syrian border with Israel.
