'Let Bibi go!' - Trump issues second call to end legal proceedings against Netanyahu
Jerusalem District Court judges cancel trial hearings for this week after closed-door meeting with security officials

U.S. President Donald Trump again called for the legal proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be canceled in a post to Truth Social early Sunday morning.
“It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote. “He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.”
Trump also called the court hearings a “political witch hunt,” comparing it to his own experience with criminal investigations in the lead up and during the 2024 Presidential Campaign.
“How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.),” Trump asked. “It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure.”
President Trump also claimed that the trials would “interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations.”
He called the prosecution “out of control” and implied that the U.S. might take some form of action over the proceedings.
“The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this,” Trump continued.
Saying the legal action against Netanyahu “greatly tarnishes our victory,” Trump called “Let Bibi go!”
The post by President Trump marks the second time in a few days in which he has publicly commented on the criminal investigation of Prime Minister Netanyahu, using much the same terminology.
On Thursday, Trump posted a message to Truth Social where he wrote, “I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which has just had one of its Greatest Moments in History, and is strongly led by Bibi Netanyahu, is continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great War Time Prime Minister!”
“Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land,” Trump continued, before calling Netanyahu “a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel.”
Speaking of Netanyahu’s appearance at court for questioning, Trump commented, “He has been going through this ‘Horror Show' since May of 2020 – Unheard of! This is the first time a sitting Israeli Prime Minister has ever been on trial.”
In that post, Trump also called the proceedings a “witch hunt”, while demanding, “Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero, who has done so much for the State.”
“It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF “JUSTICE” CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!” He exclaimed.
While several political analysts in Israel have insinuated that Netanyahu asked President Trump to make the statements on his behalf, others believe that Trump’s posts come from his affinity for the Israeli prime minister, who has faced similar opposition and similar political attacks as himself.
Meanwhile, later in the day, Israelis were surprised to find out that the hearings in the Netanyahu corruption trial scheduled for this week were canceled after a closed-door meeting with Jerusalem District Court judges, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and security officials like Mossad chief David Barnea and IDF Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder.

After two prior requests were denied, a confidential discussion with senior officials from the National Security Agency and Mossad led the judges to reverse course. Netanyahu’s request was approved, the Prime Minister will not testify this week.

The meeting came after a request by Netanyahu’s defense team for a two week pause in the hearings was rejected by the prosecution.
At time of publication, it is not clear if the hearings for next week will continue as scheduled.
