Joel Rosenberg: Charlie Kirk was murdered because he was such an effective evangelist

“Charlie Kirk was arguably the greatest, most effective, most watched, most listened to young Christian conservative of our time,” said TBN host and ALL ISRAEL NEWS Editor-in-Chief Joel Rosenberg in the latest episode of THE ROSENBERG REPORT.

When the news of Kirk's assassination emerged last week, Rosenberg was at the White House in Washington, D.C., with Christian media executives and several advisors to U.S. President Donald Trump. Some of them knew Charlie and his family closely.

“They were they were really struggling as I was… all of us were trying to process what in the world has just happened,” Rosenberg recalled.

This week's special episode was dedicated to highlighting Kirk’s faith, his life, his legacy, and his “extraordinary reach and extraordinary impact.”

“Charlie was the greatest young evangelist of our times,” Rosenberg explained. “In almost everything he said, almost everything he did, Charlie put the gospel first or wove it in. Even if somebody wanted to talk about a social issue, a political issue, a cultural issue. Charlie, turn the conversation more often than not to why Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and the Bible is the Word of God.”

Rosenberg shared with viewers clips of Kirk’s extraordinarily bold and courageous ministry.

When someone once asked Kirk if he was a Christian, he answered without hesitation:

“Very much so. Like, why is that, exactly? Jesus saved my life. I'm a sinner. Give my life to Christ. Most important decision I ever made.

So you believe the Bible is real?

Yes, I believe the Bible is true and real.

Why is that?

Well, I could give you the technical answer. There's never been an archeological discovery that has contradicted the truth of the Bible.

And then, of course, the wisdom there not a truth of the Bible that if you apply to your life, your life does not improve dramatically. And then finally, we have the most accurate and transparent, historically robust account that one can have of the most important figure ever to live in the history, the world, Jesus of Nazareth. And the resurrection is the is the pinpoint of my belief that Jesus did rise from the grave so that we may live.

What makes Christian mythology real?

So that's not mythology, but that is theology. If Genesis 1:1 and the resurrection is true, anything in the Bible is possible. You're looking at the greatest miracle, the greatest miracle is creation. And then the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, I say, how do you know that Jesus rose from the dead?

Well, show me another historical piece of a story where so many people willingly died a brutal death for a lie. Every single person around him had everything to lose. And yet they went to the absolute death from Paul to Peter to the half-brother of James, saying that Jesus is Lord, Jesus rose from the dead. Not to mention, if you are going to fake a story, you would not use female witnesses in the ancient world.

In the scriptures, it said that the feet... the women were the first ones to see Jesus Christ. If you're trying to fake a story, you would never do that.”

Kirk was equally clear on his mission:

“You believe Jesus is King. We believe in the inerrancy of scripture. We can agree on that. The most important thing is to win souls for Jesus Christ. And the second most important thing is to make sure we could still do the first thing.”

He reminded Christians of their calling:

“Christ called us to be salt and light. We as Christians should change the environment that we come in contact with. That's what salt might do. So why should we then not care about change in government to be more Christ- like?”

On campuses across the United States, Kirk often emphasized that his approach combined politics with a higher purpose:

“You've been doing this on campuses for a while. It's kind of similar to what I do some of from a political standpoint, but we're unafraid to talk about the deeper things, more important things to talk about that I mean, that's.”

Kirk also warned about the cultural battles facing the West:

“Spiritual battle is coming to the West and the enemies are Wokeism or Marxism, combining with Islamism to go after what we call the American way of life and the American way of life is very simple. I want to be able to get married, buy a home, have kids, allow them to ride their bike till the sun goes down, send them to a good school, have a low crime neighborhood not to have my kid be taught the lesbian gay transgender garbage in their school while also not having them have to hear the Muslim call to prayer five times a day. That's important.

We want the American way of life, which is, by the way, Christendom, Christians, our sacrifice, our toil, our vision, the outgrowth of the scriptures, gave us Western civilization. And this is where I think is a great rally and cry. It doesn't matter if you're Hispanic, doesn't matter if you're Asian, doesn't matter if you're Black or White.

Everybody, if you're a Christian and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior. These two threats are combining forces to come after us. And it's time that the Church stands and rises up against that.”

“This was Charlie. This is why he was assassinated,” Rosenberg said. “It's not just that he was effective in talking about Judeo-Christian values. I believe Charlie was assassinated because he was a follower of Jesus Christ. And he was so effective at preaching the gospel, not in a church pulpit… He went to more college campuses and preached the gospel… more than any other young Christian conservative that I can think of. I don’t think it’s even close.”

Rosenberg pointed out that last year, Kirk’s radio program, TBN television show, podcast, YouTube channel, and social media platforms together drew 15.4 billion views.

How did he do it?

“That's the anointing of the Holy Spirit,” Rosenberg argued. “It's not just that Charlie was smart… Not just that he was well-trained and well-articulate. There are others who have that too. It's not just that he communicated the gospel – it's that God had put a special anointing on Charlie. There is no other way to explain how effective he was and how wide his impact was.”

“And now, in death, I think it's becoming even more,” Rosenberg continued. “Even more people are listening to his messages and people talking about how their lives were changed by his message.”

In another conversation, Kirk described his own mission:

“I go around universities and have challenging conversations. And, because that's what is so important to our country is to find our disagreements respectfully. Because when people stop talking, that's when violence happens… it's a growing trend because people like me are facing violent assaults from the left. The campus, antifa. I've been stormed out of restaurants. I've been assaulted publicly. Multiple death threats.”

When asked about his ultimate goal, Kirk replied:

“There's more people that agree with me than some people would actually believe, and they come out of the woodwork when I do stuff like this. We record all of it that we put on the internet so people can see these ideas collide. When people stop talking, that's when you get violence. That's when civil war happens, because you start to think the other side is so evil and they lose their humanity.”

Rosenberg closed the episode with a haunting question: “Now what? What happens now that Charlie Kirk is gone? Is America on the verge of imploding? Are we on the verge of a civil war, or are we on the verge of the greatest spiritual awakening in our history?”

“I think we're on the verge of a spiritual awakening now,” he predicted. “I certainly want that to be the case. But it could go either way right now… Millions and millions of Christians are praying for exactly this – a revival inside the church and a great awakening.”
