On Tuesday morning, Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets carried out strikes against Hezbollah terror targets in the area of Beqaa, Lebanon.

The IDF says that the military compounds struck were used by Hezbollah’s Radwan Force for training and exercises, in support of plans to carry out terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.

The Radwan Force is a Hezbollah unit that was established to carry out an invasion of northern Israel as part of the plan called “Conquer the Galilee.”

As part of the exercises and training at these military sites, the Radwan Force terrorists carried out shooting drills for various weapons.

Many of the unit’s commanders were eliminated in September 2024 in Beirut and southern Lebanon as part of Operation Northern Arrows. However, the IDF said that since then, the unit has been attempting to rehabilitate its capabilities.

While the November 2024 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon specifically prohibits the return of any Hezbollah troops south of the Litani River, the strike on Tuesday was conducted deep in Lebanon in the Beqaa Valley, over 100 km (60 miles) from Israel’s border.

Israel has occasionally carried out strikes deep in Lebanese territory, but those have usually involved strategic weapons such as missiles or rockets. The IDF maintains that the strikes were conducted on legitimate targets, because the purpose of the Radwan Force is to invade Israel. Thus, the camps used to train the Radwan Force represent a direct threat to the State of Israel.

IDF troops have been operating against the Radwan Force in the past two years, to prevent its reestablishment and the rebuilding of its strength.

“The storage of weapons and the activities of the Hezbollah terrorist organization at these sites constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and constitute a future threat to the State of Israel,” the IDF explained.

“The IDF continues to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will prevent the reestablishment of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”

At the same time, Reuters reported on Tuesday that Lebanon's Central Bank has banned licensed financial institutions in the country from any direct or indirect interactions with the Al-Qard Al-Hassan bank, referred to as Hezbollah's "shadow bank,” as Lebanon is attempting to put economic pressure on the group to abandon its armed fight against Israel.
