IDF carries out drill preparing for multi-front war as US-Iranian nuclear talks stall

The Israeli military announced on Friday that it is preparing for a potential multi-front war with Iran and its regional terror proxies amid stalled nuclear negotiations for a hostage release-ceasefire deal.
A recent Israeli military drill, dubbed “Barak Tamir,” reportedly simulated preparedness for a multifront regional conflict. The exercise tested emergency coordination between civilian and military agencies, with a focus on protecting critical infrastructure and the home front, as the Iranian regime continues to openly call for Israel’s destruction.
“This exercise was designed to refine coordination and improve the speed and quality of response during escalating scenarios,” an IDF spokesperson stated.
U.S. President Donald Trump has emphasized that he will not allow the ayatollah regime to acquire a nuclear bomb. Washington is currently attempting to reach a diplomatic agreement with Iran concerning its nuclear program. However, both the U.S. and Iran have expressed concerns about the possibility of reaching a deal due to significant differences between the two sides. The Trump administration demands an end to Iranian uranium enrichment, while the Iranian regime insists it will continue enriching uranium close to weapons-grade level, which would make Iran a nuclear threshold state.
Last month, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) reportedly conducted drills for a potential strike on Iran’s covert nuclear program should diplomatic efforts fail. The IAF has been preparing for such a high-stakes scenario for many years. Some Israeli and U.S. military officials have warned that a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities would likely lead to a multi-front war in the Middle East.
It remains unclear how a potential future multifront war would differ from previous conflicts involving Iran and its proxies – the terrorist organizations Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen.
In February, U.S. intelligence predicted that Israel would “likely” strike Iran’s nuclear facilities within the next six months as Tehran approached the threshold for developing nuclear weapons.
CNN recently repeated U.S. intelligence assessments that the Jewish state is preparing for a potential strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Earlier this week, Iran responded by warning that Israel will receive a “devastating and decisive response” if it were to strike.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to defend Iran’s nuclear facilities against an Israeli or U.S. military strike.
“They are trying to frighten us with war but are miscalculating, as they are unaware of the powerful popular and military support the Islamic Republic can muster in war conditions,” IRGC Spokesperson Alimohammad Naini warned.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is currently representing Iran in the nuclear talks with Washington, warned that Iran might take “special measures” to defend its nuclear assets and its accumulated enriched uranium.
Earlier this week, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected U.S. and European demands to halt Tehran’s uranium enrichment, calling them “excessive and outrageous.”
“No one in Iran is waiting for American approval to enrich uranium. We will not accept such demands,” Khamenei said in a defiant speech in Tehran.
