'Let us separate church and state'
The very existence of a Jewish people and a Jewish state of Israel arose from and is inseparable from the pages of the Bible. Any attempt to separate them historically is ultimately in vain. The many attempts of Jewish people to blend into the nations of the gentiles has ultimately been met by rejection in the form of anti-Semitism - to this day. The very word “holy” (kadosh in Hebrew), means “separate.” Though the Jewish people represent a mere 0.2% of the world population, their impact on world history in every realm is immeasurable. Their continued existence, considering the perennial attempts to destroy them, is nothing short of miraculous. From Moses to Marx, from the Ten Commandments to nuclear energy, from Isaiah to Einstein and Abraham to Jesus to Bob Dylan, the world has been profoundly affected. That includes the United States of America, whose fabric is intrinsically woven together with Israel’s.
And yet, “let us separate the church and the state” is a persistent cry of the American secular left, even to the point of tearing down Ten Commandments’ monuments with their recipe for a healthy society, attempting to forbid their being posted on classroom walls of public schools. But is that not an essential of the American experiment? If so, then let's begin by doing the following:
We must start by stripping away the seven-day week, for that is a direct invention of the Bible, the foundation of Genesis. Immediately after that, all reference, dating time, using AD (Anno Domini) must be removed, and a new dating system introduced, as our years are counted from the birth of Christ. Next, the judicial system from lower courts to the Supreme Court must be abolished, for that idea was introduced by Moses - also in the Bible. For that matter, local police and courts of law must be dismantled, for that, too, is an invention of Moses, as well as the seven-year statute of limitations. Prayer and the Bible-reading have already been pretty much successfully forbidden in public schools, replaced, instead, with blood in the school corridors.
The Liberty Bell, which rang for the Revolution in 1776, must also be removed, for, on it, is inscribed the Biblical passage from Leviticus 25:10 which reads, "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all inhabitants thereof."
Even the revolutionary concept of a nation with no king but God is derived from the pages of the Bible (1 Samuel 8:6-8), a concept for which Washington fought the Revolution, and which Lincoln confirmed at Gettysburg, giving us "One Nation Under God." One need only consider the full lyrics of The Battle Hymn of the Republic, to which men marched into battle so as to end the blight of slavery. The song helps us understand from whence we've come.
After purging all this, and more, from the fabric of the American system, one would have to examine what is left. It seems to have been forgotten that the injunction in the Bill of Rights to which this purge is aimed, was meant to prevent the government from interfering with the practice of religion, as had been the case with the kings of Europe from which the young America had separated by war. At the time the First Amendment was written, the nation was almost exclusively Judeo-Christian religion, which played an important part in establishing the standard of ethics and morality of America.
If the efforts of those who wish to dismantle that foundation succeed, which seems to have been the case over the last few decades, we can only expect to see even more of the rage, discontent and chaos in the streets of America, decadence in the arts, corruption in government, the increase of lawlessness and crime, the loss of liberty, the dissolution of families, gender confusion and hopelessness among the young.
Let us pray, lest the great American Dream become the nightmare. And may America retain its link to and remain the ally and friend of the Jewish State of Israel, whose national emblem is the Menorah - symbolizing the Light of the world.
