A Channel 14 poll published Wednesday found that a majority of the Israeli public appears to support the plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday to end the war in Gaza and return the hostages

The survey conducted by Channel 14, asked respondents whether they are in favor of or against the Trump plan to end the war.

The survey found that 88% of respondents said they are in favor of the deal, 7% of respondents said they oppose the plan, and 5% of respondents reported they have not yet formed a position. Channel 14 did not report how many people participated in the survey.

At the same time, a poll done by Nimrod Nir & Gayil Talshir from the Agam Institute and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem reported similar results. Their survey, which had 847 participants, showed that 71% of the respondents support the proposal, however, there was also a more cautious opinion regarding the chances of the Trump proposal to be achieved.

The survey found that 82% of respondents reported doubt that the plan will be achieved as laid out by Trump and Netanyahu. Only 12% of respondents said they believe the plan will be achieved as presented.

The survey by the Agam Institute and the Hebrew University also showed a very high level of support for the plan among Israeli Arabs, with 93% expressing approval for the plan.

While support for the plan appears high among most of Israeli society, significant doubts remain about the plan’s viability.

Despite early statements from Hamas indicating that the group would evaluate the plan, a representative from the terror group told the BBC that Hamas will likely reject the proposal.

The official told the BBC that Trump’s plan "serves Israel's interests" while also arguing that it “ignores those of the Palestinian people.”

The official also stressed that Hamas would likely reject the proposal’s call for the terror group to disarm, which goes against recent statements from senior officials, who have consistently rejected such calls. He said that Hamas would also object to the International Stabilization Force (ISF), arguing that it represents another form of occupation.

However, Hamas is also under pressure from Arab allies, including countries which have hosted and supported Hamas, such as Qatar and Turkey. On Tuesday, Axios reported that Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt urged Hamas to accept the proposal, ending the two year Gaza war.

Both Qatar and Egypt have functioned as mediators for Hamas over the past two years, hosting Hamas delegations for negotiations, and delivering the various proposals to the terror gorup.

Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad met with Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Monday and Tuesday, where al-Thani reportedly told Hamas that he could not provide a better deal for the group, according to Axios.

Since it’s announcement, Trump’s plan has secured widespread international support, with Arab and European leaders praising the attempt to bring the war in Gaza to a close, while advancing a path towards Palestinian statehood
