UK prime minister prepares government for possible US strike on Iran

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer placed his government on alert Wednesday for the possibility of a U.S. military strike on Iran, according to a report in the Financial Times.
Senior British officials described the situation as "serious and volatile," and the Prime Minister's team has been discussing the possibility that Donald Trump may order an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities – potentially even from the joint U.S.-UK base on Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean.
According to a report in The Telegraph, UK Attorney General Lord Harmer warned Starmer that British involvement in attacks against Iran could be considered illegal.
The Attorney General stated that the UK’s role must be limited strictly to the defense of its allies.
In addition, Reuters reported, citing a German political source, that the foreign ministers of Germany, France, the UK, and the EU’s foreign affairs chief will meet on Friday in Geneva with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the nuclear issue.
Earlier in the evening, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the possibility of American intervention in the war with Iran, offering a vague response.
He refused to say whether he would support Israeli strikes and said only, "I may bomb, I may not."
The American president claimed that the Iranians had approached him in an attempt to restart dialogue and even offered to come to the White House.
To this he responded, "I told them it's too late to talk."
