Trump says Gaza deal could happen ‘very soon,’ after warning Hamas to accept his proposal
Hamas warned to take Trump’s proposal, as White House says, ‘There will not be another one’

U.S. President Donald Trump said late Sunday evening that he thinks there will be “a deal on Gaza very soon.”
Referring to the situation with Hamas, President Trump told reporters after disembarking from a flight from New York to Washington that, “we’re working on a solution that maybe could be very good.”
Asked if he could provide more details, Trump responded, “No, but you’ll be hearing about it pretty soon.”
“I think we’re going to have a deal on Gaza very soon,” President Trump said.
“It’s a hell of a problem,” he continued. “It’s a problem we want to solve for the Middle East, for Israel, for everybody. It’s a problem we’re going to get done.”

“We're going to have a deal on Gaza very soon. It's a hell of a problem. Again, it's a problem we want to solve for the Middle East, for Israel, for everybody,”

The U.S. president also restated his belief that the number of living hostages “could be a little bit less than 20.”
“So they have hostages,” Trump said, referring to Hamas’ continued holding of Israeli hostages from the Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of southern Israel. “It could be a little bit less than 20, because you know they tend to die, right, they tend to die, even though they’re young people.”
Asked whether he was confident this deal would happen after previous proposals failed, Trump replied, “Yeah, I think so. I think we’re going to get them all.”
Trump’s statement drew concern from the Israeli defense establishment, who say that unconfirmed statements regarding the death of hostages not only grieves the families, but could be used as an excuse by the terror groups holding them to kill hostages.
A security official told public broadcaster Kan News that Israel has not changed its figures regarding the number of living hostages.
“There are twenty living hostages,” the official said. “Any other statement is tantamount to permitting their blood to be shed.”
Trump’s statement to the press came just hours after he posted a message to Truth Social, warning Hamas to release the hostages.
“Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!” Trump wrote on his personal account.
The White House channel on 𝕏 shared Trump’s statement with the phrase, “This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
In a statement released shortly after President Trump posted this message, the Hamas terror group said it is ready to “immediately sit at the negotiating table.” However, the group reaffirmed its insistence on an end to the war.
“We received some ideas from the American side through mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement,” the Hamas statement said.
“Accordingly, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomes any step that supports the efforts to stop the aggression on our people and confirms readiness to immediately sit at the negotiating table to discuss the release of all prisoners in exchange for a clear declaration of ending the war, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and the formation of a committee of independent Palestinians to run the Gaza Strip and to start its work immediately.”
According to Hebrew media, under the new proposal, Hamas would release all the hostages, living and dead, in one day, while Israel would halt its planned takeover of Gaza City and begin immediate talks to end the war, that would be overseen by Trump personally.
President Trump would also reportedly guarantee Israel’s abiding by the ceasefire for as long as the negotiations for a final decision continue.
