Iran is reportedly preparing to send a “negative response” to the proposal for a nuclear deal offered by the Trump administration on Saturday after five rounds of negotiations.

“Iran is drafting a negative response to the U.S. proposal, which could be interpreted as a rejection of the U.S. offer,” a "senior diplomat” told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

“In this proposal, the U.S. stance on enrichment on Iranian soil remains unchanged, and there is no clear explanation regarding the lifting of sanctions,” he said, adding that the Iranians consider the proposal “completely one-sided.”

The Iranian diplomat who spoke to Reuters “is close to Iran's negotiating team,” the report stated.

Talks between the U.S. and Iran have been headed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned Iran that should the ongoing talks not result in a deal, the U.S. is prepared to use military force to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Back in March, Trump said that there “will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before” if no nuclear deal can be reached.

Trump has also said he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to strike Iran while talks are ongoing.

“Did you warn Prime Minister Netanyahu against taking some sort of actions that could disrupt the talks there?” a reporter asked Trump last week.

“Well, I’d like to be honest: yes, I did,” Trump responded, before adding that “it’s not a warning, I said I don’t think it’s appropriate.”

Trump said he hoped to “settle it with a very strong document, very strong, with inspections, and no trust – I don’t trust anybody…I want it very strong, where we can go in with inspectors, we can take whatever we want, we can blow up whatever we want, but nobody getting killed.”

“Right now, I think they want to make a deal, and if we can make deal, [it would] save a lot of lives,” he concluded.
