Remember COVID? Pushed out of the headlines by war, evidence of the virus has virtually disappeared in Israel
Today most remaining restrictions are dropped and unvaccinated foreigners may return to the Holy Land

Remember Covid?
Remember when we reported daily case counts, vaccination rates and restrictions that entered more than they existed?
Like most of the world Israelis are riveted to the news of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and COVID has all but disappeared from the headlines.
In fact, with winds of war and very few restrictions remaining, most of Israel feels corona-free.
However, we would be remiss if we did not mark March 1 – the day that most remaining restrictions will be rolled back, the state of emergency will morph into a "special health situation" and unvaccinated foreigners will be allowed into the country for the first time in two years.
In many ways COVID has receded. Serious hospitalized cases now stand at 582.
Also the Green Passport, which had been required for entry into most places, will no longer be needed, though it is not officially canceled and may still be revived. Twice-weekly testing for school children will also end on March 9.
What does remain is an indoor mask mandate, including at schools.
Other than that, most restrictions are hard to find and tourism is expected to pick up now.
