Iran threatens closure of strategic Hormuz Straits | After 'obliterating' nuclear program, US says it seeks peace with Iran | Russia condemns US strikes

18:02 - Israeli Air Force strikes missile facility over 2,200 km (1,300 miles) from Israel

The Israeli Air Force for the first time struck missile facilities in the Yazd area of central Iran, over 2,200 km (1,300 miles) from Israel.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets flew over Iranian territory and struck "storage facilities containing long-range surface-to-surface missiles, known as 'Khorramshahr,' in the Yazd area," the IDF said.

The mission was commanded by the head of the Air Force, Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar, and Head of Air Operations, Brig.-Gen. Gilad Keinan, from the IAF control room.

"In broad daylight, we surprised the ‘Imam Hussein’ missile headquarters in central Iran, the furthest target we’ve struck to date. We destroyed Khorramshahr missiles before they were launched at Israel and struck tunnels used to store the missiles," Bar said.

16:25 - Iranian parliament approves closure of Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian parliament has approved the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reported.

Esmail Kosari, a member of the National Security Committee, said that the "final decision lies with the Supreme National Security Council."

The strategic straits are among the world's busiest waterways, through which large parts of the world's oil supply are being exported. A closure of the strait would cut off the Arab Gulf countries from the ocean and is expected to be received as an act of war against them.

16:05 - 'Number of nations' are ready to give Iran nuclear weapons, says Russian ex-President Medvedev

Russian ex-president Dmitry Medvedev claimed that the strikes on Iran's nuclear program only harmed the US, saying that "critical infrastructure of the nuclear fuel cycle appears to have been unaffected or sustained only minor damage."

He further claimed that "the future production of nuclear weapons will continue," adding, "A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads."

15:56 - Def. Sec. Hegseth: US 'obliterated' nuclear program; Vice President Vance says US wants diplomatic solution

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear program were an incredible success that “obliterated” the regime's nuclear ambitions.

Hegseth added that the operation “did not target Iranian troops or the Iranian people.”

In a separate interview, US Vice President JD Vance said the US now wants to pursue a diplomatic solution.

“We do not want to protract this or build this out anymore than it’s already been built out. We want to end their nuclear program,” Vance told NBC’s 'Meet the Press with Kristen Welker.'

“We want to talk to the Iranians about a long-term settlement here,” he added.

14:51 - Russia 'strongly condemns' US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites

Russia strongly condemned the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites, according to a statement by its foreign ministry.

"The irresponsible decision to subject the territory of a sovereign state to missile and bomb attacks, whatever the arguments it may be presented with, flagrantly violates international law, the Charter of the United Nations and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” the ministry said.

"We call for an end to aggression and for increased efforts to create conditions for returning the situation to a political and diplomatic track."

14:02 - Natanz out of service, damage in Fordow unclear

The nuclear reactor at Natanz is out of service, Israel's security establishment estimates, according to Israel Hayom. However, the extent of damage at the underground site in Fordow is still unclear.

Ben Zion Makles, an expert in aerial photography, told the newspaper that "at this time, it is not possible to determine whether the bombs penetrated the tens of meters of rock and reached their destination" at the site.

13:33 - Iranian Revolutionary Guard warns US of 'regrettable responses'

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened the U.S. after the overnight strikes on Iran's nuclear program.

"The aggression of the American terrorist regime compels us, within the framework of the right to self-defense, to use options that go beyond the understanding and considerations of those who attack us," the IRGC said.

"Whoever attacks our soil should expect regrettable responses."

12:16 - Israeli Air Force and Navy shot down some 30 drones overnight

The Israeli Air Force and Navy intercepted around 30 drones launched at Israel overnight.

Since the start of the war, Air Force and Navy have intercepted more than 500 drones launched from Iran, the military said.

11:38 - Two additional hostage bodies recovered from Gaza Strip

The bodies of Israeli hostages Ofra Kedar (71), Yonatan Samerano (21) and Staff Sgt. Shay Levinson (19) were recovered from the Gaza Strip in a joint operation by the IDF and the Shin Bet overnight, the military announced.

"Ofra Kedar, a member of Kibbutz Be’eri, was brutally murdered and kidnapped from the kibbutz on October 7, 2023, by terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization. Ofra, who was 71 at the time of her death, was a mother of three and the wife of Shmuel Kedar, who was also murdered on October 7, 2023, by the Hamas terrorist organization in their home in Be’eri."

"Jonathan Samerano was brutally murdered and kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023, by terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization, among them a UNRWA employee, after escaping from the Nova party. Yonatan was 21 at the time of his death."

"Staff Sergeant Shay Levinson, a tank commander in the "Oz" (77) Battalion, fought terrorists on the morning of October 7, fell in battle, and was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, by terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization. Shay was 19 at the time of his death," the military said.

11:33 - Body of slain Israeli hostage Jonathan Samerano recovered in 'heroic operation'

The body of Israeli hostage Jonathan Samerano (21), who was killed by Hamas terrorists in Kibbutz Be'eri on Oct. 7, 2023, was recovered by Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip yesterday, Samerano's father announced.

“Yesterday was Yonati’s Hebrew birthday. On his 23rd birthday, on the very day he was born, our Yonati was rescued in a heroic operation by the brave soldiers of the IDF and the Shin Bet,” Kobi Samerano wrote on Instagram.

The IDF has not yet commented on the operation, but the Shin Bet said it used "special capabilities" during the mission.

"You returned to us, beloved son, wrapped in the light of heroism and the faith of a whole nation," Samerano wrote.

11:04 - 86 people treated for wounds from latest Iranian missile barrage

Several hours after the latest Iranian missile barrage, the Health Ministry updated that 86 people were treated for injuries and shock.

Two were in moderate condition, 77 only suffered light injuries, four were suffering from acute anxiety, and three were still being evaluated, the ministry said.

09:49 - Haifa impact apparently caused by malfunctioning interceptor - not Iranian missile

The IDF stated that according to an initial review, the impact in Haifa was caused by a failed interceptor, which is the reason that no alarm siren was activated prior to the impact.

"The failure in the interceptor that fell there could not have been foreseen, and therefore the alarms were not activated," according to Army Radio.

The incident will be investigated further, the military said.

 

08:53 - MDA rescue service: 16 wounded including one in moderate condition

16 Israelis were wounded in the latest Iranian missile attack, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service.

In Tel Aviv, eight people were lightly injured and one person was in acute shock.

In Nes Ziona, five lightly wounded. In Haifa, three lightly injured and one in shock, and in Be'er Yaakov, one in moderate condition.

08:48 - Israeli Air Force strikes Iranian missile launchers

The Israeli Air Force began a series of airstrikes in western Tehran, the IDF announced.

"Additionally, this morning, the IAF struck missile launchers ready to launch toward Israeli territory, soldiers in the Iranian Armed Forces, and swiftly neutralized the launchers that launched missiles toward Israeli territory a short while ago," the military said.

08:31 - Iranian missile barrage included 27 missiles - Impacts in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Nes Ziona, and Beer Yaakov

The first salvo of the Iranian missile barrage included 22 missiles and the second, five missiles, according to Army Radio.

There were only three direct impacts by Iranian missiles, the other reports were from shrapnel fragments.

08:15 - At least 10 reported impacts from heavy Iranian missile barrage

Several people were reported to have light or moderate injuries after impacts in the Haifa Bay area and in the center of the country.

Heavy damage to several buildings was reported, especially in central Israel and the Tel Aviv area.

More air raid sirens sounded in northern Israel as Iran continues to launch ballistic missiles towards Israel in retaliation for the attack.

Iran fired around 20 ballistic missiles at Israel following U.S. military strikes on the country's nuclear facilities.

07:35 - IDF reports missile launches towards Israel

The IDF Spokesperson reported that launches from Iran towards Israel had been identified, and that the defense systems were working to intercept the threat.

06:00 - Trump warns against Iranian retaliation

In a message to Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump warned against any Iranian retaliation, writing in all capital letters.

"ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT. THANK YOU!"

05:50 - Netanyahu says he kept promise to destroy Iran's nuclear sites

In a video message to the nation of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he kept his promise to the nation that Iran's nuclear facilities would be destroyed.

"Dear citizens of Israel, my brothers and sisters," Netanyahu stated.

"In Operation Rising Lion, we achieved unprecedented achievements together in Israeli history. You remember that from the beginning of the operation, I promised you that Iran's nuclear facilities would be destroyed, one way or another. This promise was fulfilled," Netanyahu proclaimed.

He also thanked Trump again, calling him "a great friend of Israel."

"President Trump is a strong leader of the free world. He is a great friend of Israel, a friend like no other," Netanyahu said.

05:35 - Trump praises cooperation with Netanyahu, 'worked as a team'

“For 40 years, Iran has been saying, ‘Death to America, Death to Israel,'” U.S. President Donald Trump told the American people in his video address, while noting that the Iranian regime was responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans.

Trump also thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the two "worked as a team."

“We worked as a team — like perhaps no team has ever worked before. And we’ve gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel,” Trump stated.

Praising the actions of the U.S. service members who participated in the attack, Trump continued, "Hopefully, we will no longer need their services in this capacity."

05:24 - Trump addresses the American people over strike

U.S. President Donald Trump posted a video message to the American people regarding the strikes in Iran, saying the U.S. military carried out “massive precision strikes” on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear sites.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump stated.

05:03 - UN Chief Guterres says 'gravely alarmed' by US strike

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says he is “gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran today.”

“This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge – and a direct threat to international peace and security,” Guterres said in a statement posted to social media.

04:45 - Netanyahu thanks Trump for 'changing history'

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for his decision to strike the Iranian nuclear sites.

“Congratulations, President Trump. Your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history,” Netanyahu said.

“In Operation Rising Lion, Israel has done truly amazing things. But in tonight’s action against Iran’s nuclear facilities, America has been truly unsurpassed. It has done what no other country on earth could do.”

“History will record that President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime, the world’s most dangerous weapons,” Netanyahu continued.

Reuters quoted U.S. President Donald Trump, in a brief phone call, as having said that Iran should “stop immediately, otherwise they’ll get hit again.

03:53 - Trump briefed Netanyahu hours ago, war cabinet monitored strike from the bunker

Israel and the United States coordinated in advance of the strike on the Iranian nuclear sites of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. U.S. President Donald Trump informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the decision had been made.

Senior Israeli officials had expressed confidence in recent days that Trump would join the effort, but had also communicated that Israel had contingency plans for Fordow in case Trump decided not to strike.

The war cabinet convened overnight in a secure bunker and closely followed the American strike. Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to thank Trump for his historic decision publicly in the coming hours.

03:45 - Home Front Command immediately changes defense policy: These are the new guidelines

The Home Front Command has updated its defense policy following a situational assessment after the U.S. strikes. It was decided that as of 3:45 AM, an immediate change in the Home Front Command’s defense policy would take effect.

As part of the new measures, all regions of the country are moving to a status of essential activity only.

The new guidelines include:

  • A ban on educational activities

  • A ban on gatherings

  • A ban on workplace operations, except for essential sectors

"The public is instructed to continue monitoring official updates from the Home Front Command via its official distribution channels. Full guidelines will be updated on the National Emergency Portal and the Home Front Command mobile app," the IDF Spokesperson added.

03:30 - IRGC-affiliated channel: 'Now the war has begun'

A channel affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded to the American strike in Iran, posting on the social media platform 𝕏: "Now the war has begun for us."

03:07 - Iran-affiliated channel claims: "The only evidence of the strike – Trump’s statements"

While Iran has yet to respond to the U.S. strike on its three nuclear sites, the Sabereen News agency, affiliated with pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, stated that "so far, no official Iranian position has been published regarding the strike and its consequences."

Another Iran-affiliated media outlet stated: "There is no evidence of a bombing apart from media reports from Isfahan about hearing explosions an hour ago. The only documentation is Trump’s statements."

02:49 - Trump: "We’ve completed a strike on Fordow and other nuclear sites – Now is the time for peace!"

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the American military completed strikes on the Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!"

The official White House account on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) also posted Trump’s statement.
