New Qatari proposal: 8 Israeli hostages to be released on first day of Gaza deal - report

Qatar has submitted a new proposal to Israel for the release of the hostages, according to a KAN News report on Tuesday evening.
According to two diplomatic sources, the proposal includes a ceasefire of 60 days, during the first day of which eight living hostages would be released.
An additional two living hostages would be released on the 50th day of the ceasefire. The framework also stipulates that the remains of 18 deceased hostages would be handed over in three phases. According to the proposal, the IDF would withdraw from the Morag Corridor, and humanitarian aid deliveries into the Gaza Strip would be increased.
Sources involved in the negotiations say there is a significant chance of reaching a deal, but disputes still remain between the sides. Among the contentious issues are the terms for ending the war and the scope of the IDF’s withdrawal.
Netanyahu wants Trump to present a regional plan including ending the war in Gaza
KAN News also reported this evening that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants U.S. President Donald Trump to present a regional plan for the Middle East as part of ending the war in Gaza. According to sources, this is expected to take place during Netanyahu’s visit to Washington at the beginning of next week.
Israeli officials said that the issue of ending the war and the release of the hostages would be a significant part of the future plan. The Prime Minister’s Office and the White House have not yet responded to questions on the matter.
This evening, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is expected to meet Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. In this meeting as well, the regional issue will be raised for discussion as part of the post-war process.
IDF raises concerns
Meanwhile, the military presented the following statement during the latest round of discussions on the matter: “We are nearing the exhaustion of the plan — what is the next step?” The IDF is deeply concerned about expanding ground operations into areas of Gaza where hostages may be held.
At the end of last week, KAN News reported that Netanyahu held a series of security discussions on the hostage issue. During the war against Iran, families of the hostages expressed fear that the issue would fall off the public agenda and not be advanced by the government.
