Israeli National Security Minister Ben Gvir on Jerusalem's Temple Mount: 'We can conquer all of Gaza and encourage emigration'

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir ascended the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Sunday morning, accompanied by his entourage, to mark Tisha B’Av.
"Just as we have proven that it is possible to govern on the Temple Mount, we can conquer the entire Gaza Strip and encourage voluntary emigration. This should be the response to Hamas' horror videos," he said.
Approximately 30 Jewish visitors were detained or removed from the compound for violating the status quo. The police stated, "We are constantly working to maintain security and order in the holy places and on the Temple Mount. Visits to the Temple Mount take place in accordance with decisions made by the political leadership."
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry sharply condemned what it called a “raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the National Security Minister Ben Gvir.”
Knesset Members Amit Halevi of the Likud party and Sharren Haskel of the New Hope party also visited the Temple Mount to mark Tisha B’Av.
Jewish entry to the site began at 7 a.m., and in line with the minister’s policy, certain violations of the status quo were allowed. The number of visitors is expected to be higher than in previous years.
Thousands gathered last night at the Western Wall on the eve of Tisha B’Av for prayers, lamentations, and the reading of the Book of Lamentations. Tens of thousands are expected to visit the Western Wall throughout the fast day today. Signs posted at the plaza urge worshippers to also pray for the return of the hostages.
