Israeli Defense Minister Katz reveals 'humanitarian city' plan to relocate all Gaza residents

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed on Monday that Israel is preparing to establish a “humanitarian city” on the ruins of Rafah, located between the Morag and Philadelphi corridors, with the goal of separating the Palestinian population from Hamas militants operating among them. At least in the initial stage, the intention is to begin reducing the population in the humanitarian area of Al-Mawasi, according to a report Monday evening on Kan News.
According to the plan, overseen by Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram, the new city to be built will house approximately 600,000 Palestinians, who will undergo security screening before entering the area. Those admitted will not be permitted to leave. Subsequently, under the plan, the entire population of the Gaza Strip would be relocated to this new city.
Under the proposed model, the IDF will not distribute aid or food to Gaza residents but will secure the area from a distance. Israel is seeking to recruit countries and international organizations to manage the distribution of aid and food to residents.
Israel also intends to establish four additional centers to be managed by the American aid fund GHF, in addition to the three existing centers in southern Gaza. If a ceasefire agreement is signed that allows the IDF to remain in the Morag corridor area, according to defense establishment preparations, construction work will be carried out during the 60-day ceasefire.
