A luxury hotel co-owned by Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has received approval for construction in Herzliya, a coastal city located just north of Tel Aviv.

“This is a project in which the famous actor has a 10% stake, and the rest is owned by the Hagag Group and the brothers Ahikam and Lior Cohen,” The Jerusalem Post reported.

While the project was first initiated in 2018, it only received final approval for construction on Sunday.

The 14-story hotel, which will be built on the Herzliya Marina, has been approved to encompass 51,000 square meters (about 549,000 square feet) in total. The marina features upscale dining, shopping and berthing for yacht and sailing vessels.

“Luxury amenities will include a large swimming pool, a conference center, commercial spaces and restaurants, and a yacht marina accessible directly through the hotel,” reported the Times of Israel.

The report further noted that DiCaprio has previously invested in Israeli companies Mobli and Aleph Farms, and dated Israeli model Bar Refaeli from 2005 to 2011.

While many high-level actors have condemned Israel for its actions in Gaza, DiCaprio has not spoken publicly about the ongoing war.
