The Israeli Air Force (IAF) struck and destroyed an Iranian aerial refueling aircraft in the city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran, some 2,300 kilometers (over 1,400 miles) from Israel.
"The IAF is operating to establish aerial superiority over Iranian airspace. This marks the longest-range strike conducted since the beginning of the operation," the IDF said.

Israeli air defenses intercepted an entire Iranian ballistic missile barrage, the IDF stated.

The Iranian government officially announced this morning the deaths of eight commanders in the Revolutionary Guards' Aerospace Corps, including Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.
Hajizadeh helped to lead the two previous ballistic missile attacks on Israel in April and October 2024. He was also the commander of the Aerospace Force on 8 January 2020, when two surface-to-air missiles shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 soon after take off, killing all 176 passengers and crew. The plane was still in Iranian air space when the incident happened, and while Hajizadeh ultimately took responsibility, he was never disciplined.
