Antisemitic radicals in Belgium dress as Hamas terrorists, re-enact Oct. 7 massacre

TRIGGER WARNING - The video below contains graphic content that may be disturbing for some viewers.
Over the weekend, anti-Semitic Islamists dressed as Hamas terrorists reenacted the Oct. 7 massacre in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. The glorification of the deadliest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust was part of the third annual “Resistance Festival,” organized by Samidoun and held in central Brussels from June 6 to June 8. While Samidoun is designated as a terrorist organization in both the United States and Canada, it is apparently not banned in Belgium.
Video clips from the event showed masked men wearing keffiyehs and military fatigues, pointing prop guns while other “actors” lay on the ground, simulating dead bodies. Fake blood is visible in the footage. After reenacting the Oct. 7 massacre, the individuals dressed as Hamas terrorists and raised their arms in a display of “victory.”

The celebration of the massacre was accompanied with music and the slogan “From the river to the sea,” widely seen as a call for Israel’s complete destruction and the murder of all Israelis and Jews. The event was received with applause and cheers from the audience who in the video clips appeared to be primarily Muslim.
One individual who attended the event, posted the following message on Instagram: “Resistance is justified when people are occupied. When there is a genocide, resistance is justified.”
The Israeli ambassador to Belgium, Idit Rosenzweig-Abu, condemned the antisemitic event.
“Here in Brussels. Reenactment of the 7/10 massacre. Blood and bodies on the floor and all,” the ambassador stated in a video posted on the social media platform 𝕏. Rosenzeig-Abu stressed that she “just couldn’t believe it’s real, but it is.”
The Belgian lawmaker Sam van Rooby criticized the event, arguing that the organizer Samidoun has pledged in advance to refrain from referring to the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah and “not to call for hatred or violence and to strictly respect social cohesion.”
Rooby also argued that Brussels mayor Jean Spinette’s condemnation and call for a police investigation was “too little, too late.”
Spinette defended the decision to greenlight the “performance” after the event organizers had promised that they would not glorify Hamas or Hezbollah.
“I share the indignation at the discovery of these images,” the mayor stated. “The elements in our possession did not allow for a ban a priori, without jeopardizing freedom of expression."
The event's organizer, Samidoun, claimed it was meant to highlight the “culture of Palestinian, Arab, and international anti-imperialist resistance.”
Belgium has in recent years struggled with radicalized Muslims who identify with Hamas, ISIS and other terrorist organizations.
In February 2024, Belgium’s Minister of Justice Paul Van Tigchelt confirmed that Hamas operates on Belgian soil.
“So far, we know that Hamas is active in Belgium through various companies. The activities (...) focus on lobbying and fundraising,” the justice minister stated.
Furthermore, Belgium has emerged as one of Israel’s harshest critics in the European Union amid the ongoing Hamas-initiated Gaza war.
Last May, Belgium signaled a willingness to potentially impose trade sanctions against the Jewish state due to its self-defense against the terrorist organization Hamas.
Belgium also joined Norway, Spain and Ireland in unilaterally recognizing “Palestine” as a de facto state, despite criticism from Israel that such a move constitutes a reward for the Oct. 7 massacre of 1,200 Israelis.
