Israeli pro-life group says it has helped more than 6,000 women choose life
An Israeli pro-life organization says it has helped more than 6,000 women choose to continue their pregnancies through a program that has supported mothers facing crisis pregnancies for nearly four decades.
Speaking with Christian journalist Paul Calvert, Sandy Shoshani of Be'ad Chaim (Israel Pro-Life) said the organization's Operation Moses program continues to assist women across the country by offering practical and emotional support throughout pregnancy and after childbirth.
"We currently have about 150 pregnant women, so we're helping women constantly. We're working hard on Google to advertise, so every woman in crisis pregnancy would know that there is an opportunity for help and that she can choose life," Shoshani said.
According to Shoshani, Be'ad Chaim supports mothers for an entire year after their babies are born by providing furniture, clothing, diapers, formula, counseling and ongoing encouragement.
The interview also addressed abortion in Israel, where Shoshani argued that the actual number of abortions is significantly higher than official figures indicate. She said changes to abortion laws over the years have also influenced public attitudes toward the practice.
"It just made it so much more acceptable. You know, the government says it's okay. It's just normal. It normalized abortion."
Shoshani also spoke about the organization's faith and its belief in the value of every human life, pointing to Jesus' love for children and God's calling before birth.
"Imagine how much Jesus loves these little ones,” she said. “It's hard to imagine that man would decide that they have no right to live."
While advocating for unborn children, Shoshani acknowledged the challenges many women face, including poverty, trauma, war, family breakdown and uncertainty about the future. She said the ministry seeks to meet those needs through practical support as well as emotional encouragement.
Many mothers later express gratitude for the help they received, she said, sharing one message from a woman who chose to continue her pregnancy:
"I was about to abort my baby because I thought I couldn't cope. And with your encouragement and help and support, I now have the best thing that ever happened to me."
Asked what continues to motivate her work, Shoshani said her faith remains the driving force behind the ministry.
"The love of God compels us. Simply the love of God and the grace of the Messiah Jesus compels us to love others."
