Why did Obama accuse Israel of stealing land?
It seems a bit disingenuous of Barack Hussein Obama to accuse Israel of stealing its own land, nearly 20 years after he became the 44th president of the U.S.
Oddly enough, in the eight years he served in his role, the most opportune time to bring up the claim, he never once suggested that Israel was occupying stolen land, so why now?
The simple answer is that Obama has to remain in lockstep with his party, which has undergone a major metamorphosis since the time he ran for office. Back then, no Democrat uttered the phrase, “From the river to the sea,” because Jews were still considered the backbone of the party, which was home to them for over a century.
In fact, some of Obama’s most trusted advisors and friends were Jewish, including Rahm Emanuel who served as White House Chief of Staff for Obama from January 2009 to October 2010. So, you’d think he would have mentioned his allegation to the man whose father, Benjamin, was born in Jerusalem, prior to the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
But not a word! It would take another 16 years for the former president to bring forth his super-charged accusation that Israel forcibly took land from another people, qualifying them as colonialists and occupiers.
Shouldn’t he know better? Unquestionably, he does, but when the political party of whom you are said to still be the most formidable leader, has gone rogue, abandoning a large chunk of its constituency, to team up with the new kids on the block (Democratic Socialists) who hate the Jews, you are must keep up with the times.
And that’s exactly what he did. In true traitor form, Obama voiced the obligatory words, short of the “Free Palestine” mantra which, at some point, he’ll surely be expected to say.
Realizing that he could not go that far, he did the next best thing to assuage the DSA mob, the new Democratic thought leaders. And that was to spew his anti-Israel blather to a Belfast audience, many of whom are already predisposed to believe the worst about the Jewish homeland.
Obama knows that such an antagonistic message would not have gone over well in the U.S., where an estimated 7 million Jews still call home. And while a good number of them have already left the Democrat party, as a result of the very antisemitic turn it has taken, there still are a lot of die-hard Jews who, for no logical reason, still remain loyal voters to the party that’s now barely able to utter the name Israel without attaching contempt to it.
As the respected leader of those political ideologues, Obama willingly sacrificed Democratic Jews at the altar of feeding the pro-Palestine god, whose ravenous appetite is never satisfied.
When your soul is up for hire, it’s not too difficult to bow down to whatever is being demanded, including selling out your greatest supporters. After all, you can’t run for president a third time, but you can lose your coveted position as the greatest influencer of the party, so why not genuflect?
You really have to hand it to Obama, though, because he didn’t just drop the bombshell statement in a willy nilly manner. He adeptly sought to couch it in the cleverest way possible, which attempted to sound conciliatory but, at the same time, became a forceful condemnation of Israel’s right to defense.
By starting out with a historical context, Obama recounted how the “Jewish people, for millennia, were oppressed, discriminated against and killed, with Europe being responsible for much of it.”
Sounds reasonable and sympathetic, right? But, of course, he couldn’t stop there. Going on to express how Israel has become the “strongest, most technologically advanced in the region,” he began to caution Israel that, such a profound achievement must be accompanied by restraint.
That’s when he warned that we mustn’t fall into the trap of “doing whatever we need and taking whatever we want and not making any concessions to anyone – all of which may work short-term, but will cause us to cede moral ground if we take that position.”
Continuing his condescending diatribe, Obama pontificated that “The citizenry of Israel has to rethink, to reimagine how your children and grandchildren are going to live in this region. Are you just going to be behind walls and wipe out everybody around you or are you going to find some just way of defending yourself while still acting in an ethical moral way?”
Clearly Obama would prefer that Israel take a very low-keyed and more passive approach to the Iranian, Hamas, Houthi and Hezbollah massive barrages of rocket fire, which has come our way, for the express purpose of total eradication of our state.
But it’s easy to suggest constraint when you’ve never been the target of annihilation. Rather than scold us for doing what’s necessary to survive, why doesn’t Obama chide our enemies whose hate knows no bounds? Why doesn’t he rebuke the vitriolic indoctrination forced upon each Gazan generation, making it impossible for real peace to ever be forged?
Why doesn’t the former president condemn a regime that uses its citizens as expendable media fodder, to garner ignorant foreign support of those who blame their deaths on Israel, rather than radical Islamic leaders? Shouldn’t they be the ones that need to “reimagine” how their children and grandchildren ought to live?”
No, because none of those words would appease the DSA gods who must be placated and soothed, knowing that this is how you win hearts and minds.
For Obama to “accuse Israel of taking land off people and being excessive, referring to Israel and the Palestinians throughout the state’s history,” is the best way to assure that everyone has heard the message from the “top dog,” whose credibility is not as besmirched as the more obvious antisemitic rantings of the newcomers to his party.
Sadly, Obama is just one more, in a long line of useful idiots, who is being used to further the disdain – not only towards the Jewish state but also the Jewish people, worldwide.
As was stated by our own prime minister, “The Jewish people are not foreign occupiers in the land of our forefathers,” something Obama surely knows, but, regrettably, lacks the backbone and character to admit.
