Israel's Christian ambassador warns against support for Muslim Brotherhood candidates
Comment comes as Michigan Democrat congresswoman announces support for Republican challenger to El-Sayed
Israel’s ambassador to the Christian world recently cautioned against supporting politicians with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
“Middle Eastern Christians have seen what happens when the Muslim Brotherhood’s vision of society gains political power,” Ambassador George Deek posted to his 𝕏 account on Friday.
“Heed their warning, or learn the hard way,” he added.
Deek’s comments came in a post in which he shared a video by a Chaldean/Assyrian Christian in Michigan who warned against voting for candidates like Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

In that video, the Christian from an Iraqi background says that El-Sayed’s rhetoric on the campaign trail makes him feel like he will have to re-live the experience his parents had before fleeing to the United States.
The post by Deek marks one of the first times he has publicly entered a political debate in another country, apparently provoked by by El-Sayed’s highly critical stance towards Israel.
El-Sayed has also been accused by several people of being associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, a transnational Islamist movement which seeks to place Muslims in leadership positions across the world.
Former CIA operative Sarah Adams recently shared an investigative report on El-Sayed’s connections with the Islamist political movement, put together by The Investigative Project on Terrorism.
EXPOSING THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD'S NETWORK: WHAT MICHIGAN VOTERS NEED TO KNOW I want to thank Steven Emerson and the Investigative Project on Terrorism @TheIPT for the extensive work behind this six-part investigation: El-Sayed in the Brotherhood's Orbit The investigation examines Abdul El-Sayed's longstanding associations with organizations linked to the Muslim Brotherhood's network in the U.S. Drawing on declassified FBI records, internal Brotherhood documents, archived communications, and hundreds of hours of recordings, Emerson presents evidence that deserves serious public scrutiny. I'm particularly flagging this investigation for my friends in Michigan, but its implications go well beyond one state or one political candidate. We cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand when it comes to the Muslim Brotherhood's history, networks, and efforts to gain influence in American institutions. These are legitimate national security concerns, and political convenience should never take precedence over examining the evidence. The American people deserve to know who is seeking positions of power, what organizations they have been involved with, and what those relationships mean. I'll share all six installments below so you can examine the investigation for yourself. Full investigation: https://t.co/dJ77TPUUi0

In recent days, a political advertisement in support of El-Sayed accused the United States government of giving billions of dollars to Israel to kill Palestinians, while average Americans are unable to afford basic food items.
After the ad received wide viewership online, El-Sayed’s campaign said the candidate was not involved in making of the ad.
It was later revealed that leftist political commentator Cenk Uygur had originally created the ad in support of his unsuccessful 2024 presidential run, and only modified it recently to support El-Sayed.
Michigan Democrat Representative Haley Stevens, who lost to El-Sayed in the Senate primary, spoke out against the ad as “fearmongering about Israel.”
This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.

In a post reaffirming support for her positions on housing, healthcare, and tax reform, Stevens said these goals wouldn’t be achieved by “by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world.”
Just days later, Stevens publicly endorsed El-Sayed’s Republican challenger, Mike Rogers, citing hateful rhetoric from El-Sayed and many of his supporters.
“Abdul said I was no longer welcome in his campaign, and that I should stay away,” the congresswoman said, appearing with Rogers in a campaign event at Perfecting Church in Detroit. “And he's right, and that's why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.”
Stevens represents a large Jewish district in suburban Detroit, which she said has expressed concern over some of El-Sayed’s rhetoric regarding Israel.
After Stevens endorsement of Rogers, U.S. President Donald Trump called her brave, saying, “I have great respect for her.”
He also suggested she switch to the Republican Party.
At a political rally over the weekend, President Trump said that people who vote for El-Sayed are “crazy.”
“If you vote for this jihadist lunatic who wants to destroy you, you're crazy,” the president said.
