The deterioration should not have taken anyone by surprise
In his latest article entitled, “The Overton window has shifted,” writer, rabbi and physician Jonathan Lieberman recounts the many shocking and deadly events which have occurred in his former country of the U.K., since the massacre of October 7, 2023. He says he never expected the deterioration would come so quickly.
Specifically mentioning the Manchester synagogue attack, of last Yom Kippur as well as the April stabbing of two Jewish men in Golders Green, he addresses the British political trend of labeling the Jewish homeland as a racist and bigoted entity, a position recently adopted by the Green Party.
Lieberman is justified in his deep angst, as he attributes much of what has taken place to a major shift in the ability to speak openly about “the ideas considered politically acceptable, once regarded as beyond the pale – too offensive, absurd or dangerous to merit serious consideration,” the definition of The Overton Window.
But he shouldn’t be surprised that everything went to rot so rapidly, especially given what has been systematically taking place over the course of the last 50 years?
While Muslim migrants began to arrive in the U.K. as early as the 1800s, it wasn’t until the 1980s that civil unrest, in many Muslim majority countries, became the impetus for a much larger migration to the U.K.
Unlike the melting pot of different ethnicities, which took place in the U.S., at the turn of the 19th century, Muslims, who came to Britain, deliberately chose not to blend in to the local culture.
Sociologists attribute that phenomenon to “a combination of stronger religious identity, structural and social barriers, and community-level dynamics that shape a slower or distinct pattern of cultural integration compared to other groups.”
But, candidly, all that boils down to their distrust of the local people, coupled with the belief that their culture is morally, socially and religiously superior to all others. Since they adhere to Sharia Law, vastly different from the laws of Western governments, they chose to live by their rules, refusing to adapt to a new standard of what determines right from wrong.
Settling in particular enclaves of U.K. cities, it wasn’t long before their presence became so entrenched and dominant, that local police were not willing to risk their lives, to enforce laws, by entering what became known as their exclusive territory.
It is this kind of appeasement which resulted in much criticism, leading to the result of a "two-tier" policing in certain areas such as Birmingham and London, in order to keep the peace and not be accused of Islamophobia.
Predictably, though, once that population felt emboldened, they realized that the possibility of domination could be achieved.
With the establishment of more and more mosques, as well as Muslims being elected into public office, it didn’t take long before the overall culture began to shift, accommodating their sensitivities, holidays, political leanings and most everything else where they wanted to effect change.
It is the reason that Islamic flags are waved at every protest and why kaffiyehs cover heads. For them, they have successfully imported their brand of life and culture to a nation which rolled out the red carpet for them, deferring to their every need, with unlimited hospitality.
While all that was happening, the Woke movement was gaining traction, connecting with Muslims at their one commonality of holding Jews and their homeland with contempt. Together, they were able to bring about a frightening unrest, which manifested itself through intimidation and threat towards ordinary British Jews, even if they weren’t necessarily associated with Israel.
Anyone who did not expect an avalanche of chaos, rampant crime and major unrest apparently underestimated the power of these two groups, who adeptly exploited the weakness of unprincipled politicians and leaders who, rather than stand strong, defending their British identity, ended up capitulating.
When local police patrol streets without weapons, how can they expect to maintain any kind of authority against lawbreakers, whose bold and thuggish behavior is unafraid to take on law enforcement? How can crimes be stopped without armed police to deter such acts?
And what happens when you cannot even speak up against those who commit such heinous offenses, for fear of being accused of hate speech, carrying with it the possibility of incarceration?
They’ve literally covered all their bases, making sure that a foreign culture, in opposition to Western values, can come in, unhindered, able to hijack a way of life and turn it into a radical theocratic Muslim caliphate, where only one system is accepted by all.
Not only can’t law enforcement be effectively employed, but British citizens are silenced by the enactment of laws that punish anyone who dares to challenge the conquest.
This is the deterioration which has overtaken the once great British Empire that dominated, referred to as “the foremost global power for roughly a century (from 1815 to 1914), while its overall existence as a colonial empire spanned over 400 years from the late 16th century until 1997.”
It is the country which, “following the defeat of Napoleon, at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, entered a century of unmatched naval, industrial, and economic dominance known as Pax Britannica.”
Today, it is merely a shell of its greatness, hollowed out by those who came to replace its splendor, with Muslim dominance, through the means of anarchy. What will follow will be a mass exodus, of its Jewish population, from the place where they have felt secure since “Jews were permitted to resettle in England under Oliver Cromwell 365 years after their expulsion in 1290.”
That period is rapidly coming to a close as British Jews weigh up just how unsafe they feel in a country that holds no real protection for them. Among reported antisemitic incidents, some 3,700 hate crimes were committed in the year 2025 alone, the second-highest total ever recorded.
At a time when many British Jews are considering the radical shift taking place in their country, “half to 61% of British Jews have considered leaving the U.K. due to a sharp rise in antisemitism since October 7, 2023.,” attesting to the dim outlook of things going back to the way they were.
Yes, the deterioration came quickly, but that’s just because it got a lot of help on the way!
