Evidence: When archaeology brings the Bible to light
In our time manifold evidence is being uncovered and brought to light before the eyes of all peoples. It is being spread out on display in the museums of Jerusalem, in archaeological journals, on televisions and on the internet. Since the modern return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel, the treasures that for millennia lay hidden beneath the dust have been revealed. The most ancient, two thousand year-old copies of the Bible have come forth, hidden away in caves by the Dead Sea.
Ancient towns and synagogues where Jesus preached have been uncovered. The original biblical city of David has been excavated in Jerusalem. Ancient steles and signets have been discovered proving the real existence of King David, Isaiah the prophet, King Hezekiah, Pontius PIlate and other biblical personages. The ossuaries of the high priest Caiphus and that of Jacob (James) the brother of Yeshua have been recovered. Even more compelling is the inexplicable image of a crucified man on the Shroud of Turin, matching in correct detail the biblical account of the crucifixion and resurrection of the Messiah.
Even as I write this, the final results of the clinical examination of materials drawn up from the ship-shaped mound on the mountains of Ararat await their soon publication. That relic is not only located where the book of Genesis describes it to be, but is coincidently the precise length described in that biblical account. If the scientific results prove to be indicative of the presence of the actual Ark of Noah, might it also lead to considering the veracity of other accounts recorded in the Book of Genesis?
It is the very will to not believe, and hardness of heart, that persists in its disbelief in the face of evidence that points to a greater truth, preventing the eye to see, the ear to hear, before that final day in Court when all evidence will support the case.
"And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;" -Romans 1:28.
