Stamp out Hamas by sending them to their graves
On that fateful morning of October 7, 2023, an estimated 6,000 terrorists are believed to have infiltrated Israel, for the purpose of brutally slaughtering innocent Israelis, who had yet to open their eyes and welcome the welcome Shabbat.
According to an Israeli source, some 4,000 of them have met up with their own fate, unlikely basking in the sunlight of paradise, flanked by 72 virgins. If that report is accurate, another 2,000 have yet to bite the dust.
Of course, even if the glorious news of their demise would be announced, it would not mean the final end of the terror group, because “Israeli and U.S. intelligence estimates indicate that Hamas retains roughly 10,000 to 40,000 fighters in the Gaza Strip, with many recent assessments putting the active number around 20,000.”
There should be no doubt that any Hamas members, still alive and kicking, along with the replenished numbers, who have joined them over the last two years, are wholly committed to the goal of eradicating Israel “from the river to the sea.”
Their every waking breath is devoted to how they can best accomplish their stated objective of “establishing an independent Islamic Palestinian state in the place they call Palestine,” by means of “the destruction or replacement of Israel through armed struggle and political action.”
Consequently, a Palestinian state, comprised of Gaza and even large parts of Judea and Samaria is a non-starter for Hamas. Throw in East Jerusalem, and that, too, would not seal the deal. For them, it’s all or nothing, and that is the only explanation that needs to be given to the two-state solution crowd.
Given that sobering reality, why would anyone consider anything other than completely stamping out Hamas in order to put an end to the serious threat which the terror group still poses, both to their people, whom they continue to cruelly control, as well as to Israel, which remains their target?
Nonetheless, consideration is still being given to the possibility of an unarmed Hamas remaining in Gaza and even playing a role in its governance, since “Hamas remains entrenched in daily municipal life.”
That is because senior Hamas officials have refused to disarm, until there is a full withdrawal of all Israeli military, resulting in a stalemate since no one believes that Gaza, without the presence of IDF troops, will yield anything but the resumption of what existed prior to October 7.
This means that there are still areas where Hamas remains in complete control, turning them into the de facto government, preventing anything from going forward.
Additionally, Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan, which supposedly excluded Hamas from all future governance of Gaza, is nothing more than a pipe-dream, because the goal of de-radicalization and peaceful coexistence, by those who relinquish their weapons, doesn’t look as if it will become a reality in anyone’s lifetime.
So, why would any sane person believe that a pact made with Hamas terrorists would turn out differently, when all they’ve been taught to do is live for the day that Israel no longer exists?
This is why there can only be one course of action, when it comes to these monsters, and it’s not promising them amnesty, safe passage or second chances at peace. Those are what should be referred to as a fool’s errand, defined as a pointless and futile task, wasting everyone’s time and effort.
There is only one solution for Hamas, and that is sending them to their graves, because not doing so allows them to continue to send everyone else to theirs.
All the creative and well-intentioned plans and aspirations to get Hamas to change their stripes will result in disappointment and the renewed opportunity for them to regroup, gain strength and plot new ways of how they can finally make good on their promise to rid the Middle East of its Jewish presence.
The great mystery is why no one learns from this very obvious mistake of thinking that a scorpion can be trusted not to sting a second time.
In a recent article titled, “Gaza’s comeback kid,” writer Neville Teller refers to former Fatah security chief, Mohammed Dahlan as a likely person being considered to unite several Palestinian parties, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Democratic Reformist Current, founded by Dahlan, himself, for the purpose of forging a joint alliance that would ultimately become a national partnership.
Dahlan is seen as a good candidate who would serve as a mediator, between the parties, facilitating “channels of communication with Hamas and other Palestinian factions, as well as the UAE, Egypt, Washington and parts of the Israeli security establishment.”
That sounds very much as if Hamas lives to see another day, while still retaining enough power to continue their quest of wreaking havoc on Israel, by launching more rockets and building new tunnels to replace those which were destroyed.
Who would stop them? If they claim that fair elections have taken place, resulting in an alliance with several different groups, why wouldn’t they go back to smuggling arms and coming up with new strategies as to how they can succeed this next time?
And that’s the problem! Getting them to abandon their lifelong goal of terminating the Jewish state is never going to happen – not even with the most tempting enticements. Because if dying as a “shahid,” (martyr) is their highest privilege, to which one can attain, then why would they want to fall short of that honor?
When you think about it, there really is no motivation or incentive on the part of Islamic terrorists to forge permanent peace treaties or engage in peaceful co-existence, because none of those things are considered to be of value to them.
Hating Israelis is what comes naturally to them, and the thought of making peace with Jews, their avowed enemies, whom they are told to murder, per the Quran, goes against everything they’ve been indoctrinated to believe.
In fact, real Muslim extremists, such as Hamas, believe that a final battle will come when “trees and stones will call out to Muslims to kill the Jews hiding behind them.” (Sahih al-Bukhari (Hadith 2926) and Sahih Muslim)
That is why stamping out Hamas terrorists is the best and most sound plan that needs to take place. And the sooner, the better!
