Trump accuses Iran, 'Fake News' of lying, insists Tehran has agreed to nuclear inspections
Iranian leaders again claim that memorandum represents ‘American defeat’
U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran and the media of lying, following statements by Iranian leaders denying the Islamic Republic had agreed to accept nuclear inspections.
After Vice President JD Vance declared that Iran had agreed to allow International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors back into the country, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei contradicted the announcement.
“Iran has no plans to allow IAEA inspectors to enter nuclear sites that were damaged during the war,” Baghaei said in a statement released on regime-affiliated Student News Network (SNN).

This message was repeated by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher-Ghalibaf, who posted a denial to social media, while also denying the statements by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who claimed that inspectors would soon be allowed access to nuclear sites.
“In Switzerland, no meeting was held with Grossi, despite his request,” Ghalibaf wrote in Persian. “There is also no program for access to the attacked facilities and nuclear materials. These issues will solely be examined and resolved within the framework of the final agreement and as a result of the other party's practical action in terminating all sanctions.”
Today #Iran's regime's deputy foreign minister indicates that the IAEA inspections will only happen as part of a final agreement. The General License X and steps to unfreeze assets apparently was not enough of a "practical action." pic.twitter.com/lL8z4MB9kB

Trump said these were “false statements” in a post to Truth Social.
“Despite their protestations and false statements to the contrary, coupled with the drumbeat of the Fake News, which is doing everything possible to make the U.S. Victory as small and insignificant as possible, Iran has fully and completely agreed to highest level Nuclear inspections long into the future (Infinity!!!),” President Trump posted on Tuesday. “This will insure ‘Nuclear Honesty.’”
Trump further stated that if Iran had not agreed to inspections, “there would be no further negotiations.”
“Based on this and other major concessions being made by Iran, I have agreed to allow the Hormuz Strait to remain OPEN, with no further Naval Blockade,” Trump continued.
Trump also repeated his claim that all unfrozen Iranian funds would be used to purchase agricultural and medical supplies from the U.S.
“The Money and/or Sanctions that the U.S. Treasury is releasing goes into escrow, controlled by the U.S.A., and will be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies, exclusively from the United States, including Corn, Wheat, and Soybeans from our great American Farmers,” Trump claimed. “These are things that are desperately needed by Iran.”
A little later, Trump claimed to “have Iran on the ‘ropes,’” in a post attacking the Senate for voting to approve the War Powers Act.
However, in remarks after returning to Iran, Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf said the Memorandum of Understanding was “a declaration of America’s defeat.”

The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding became a declaration of America's defeat. pic.twitter.com/dr5ASEYxb0
“The Islamabad understanding was not the result of pressure and coercion, but rather the result of the resistance and authority of the brave Iranian nation,” Ghalibaf said. “That is why the Islamabad memorandum of understanding became a declaration of America’s defeat.”
