Iran: Su-35 fighter jet deal completed, but deliveries from Russia delayed
Iran’s military spokesman confirmed that the purchase of Russian-made Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets has been finalized, with contracts signed and pilots already trained. However, delivery of the aircraft has been postponed until “after the war.”
Speaking in a local podcast interview, the spokesman said the jets had originally been expected to arrive before the latest conflict began. His remarks were shared Saturday by Clash Report on X.
Responding to domestic criticism that earlier deliveries could have reduced Iran’s loss of air superiority during the fighting, the spokesman said the country had also made progress in domestic aircraft production and claimed its air force would unveil more advanced equipment after the war.
Meanwhile, U.S. media reported that President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had spoken to coordinate positions ahead of a possible resumption of strikes against Iran.
