Israel's Elbit to unveil new underwater drone at EURONAVAL 2026 in Paris
Israeli defense company Elbit Systems announced on Thursday that it will unveil a new unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) at the EURONAVAL 2026 exhibition in Paris, scheduled for the first week of November.
The new platform expands Elbit’s growing naval portfolio, following its acquisition of International Submarine Engineering Ltd. (ISE), a company specializing in autonomous underwater systems. ISE has delivered more than 250 underwater vehicles to customers in over 20 countries.
Elbit said the new underwater capabilities will complement its existing autonomous maritime systems, allowing the company to offer coordinated operations involving both surface and underwater vessels.
“The company’s vertically integrated approach enables coordinated autonomous maritime formations tailored to evolving operational requirements, supporting integrated mission planning, launch and recovery, as well as the execution of coordinated surface and underwater missions,” Elbit said in a statement.
“Navies are increasingly looking for comprehensive autonomous solutions for complex maritime missions,” said Oren Sabag, general manager of Elbit's ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) and EW (Electronic Warfare) Division.
“The addition of UUV capabilities further expands our autonomous maritime portfolio and strengthens our ability to provide customers with a holistic operational solution spanning surface and underwater autonomous systems, payloads and mission management capabilities,” Sabag added.
Elbit is expected to showcase the new underwater vehicle alongside its Seagull unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and other maritime technologies. The Seagull platform, which has been operational since 2017, is designed for reconnaissance, mine detection and neutralization, and anti-submarine warfare support.
The expanded portfolio allows Elbit to offer integrated autonomous maritime systems combining surface and underwater vessels, sensors and mission-management capabilities.
Earlier this month, Elbit secured a $235 million European contract for its PULS rocket artillery system. The system can fire rockets with a range of up to 80 kilometers (50 miles), as well as missiles with ranges of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), from truck-mounted launchers.
Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Haifa, Elbit Systems is one of Israel’s largest defense companies and a major international supplier of military technology. The company reported nearly $8 billion in revenue in 2025 and employs approximately 20,000 people. Its expanding naval business adds to a portfolio that has traditionally focused on land-based systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.
