'The sun never sets on the British Empire'

The expression became widely associated with the British Empire in the 18th and 19th centuries, when Britain controlled territories across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Pacific. Because these holdings stretched around the globe, the sun was always rising or shining somewhere under British rule.
“The sun never sets on the British empire.” Variations on the phrase have been used for more than 200 years to describe the scope and power of the nation and its occupied territories.
The phrase has long been used to describe the British Empire in the 19th and early-to-mid 20th centuries. Then all at once in the mid-20th century Britain lost India, and then its holdings in what they termed Palestine, in 1948 when they betrayed the Jews in favor of the Arabs and their oil, leaving their fledgling state to be devoured by the surrounding Arabs who had refused the Partition Plan for two states, the solution touted by many even today. The Arabs preferred war, sure they could destroy the small and weak Jewish defenders.
Fortunately, the Arab armies surprisingly failed to achieve their goal, and the Jews succeeded in establishing the State of Israel. It was then that the Great British Empire began shrinking.
This week, apparently forgetting those historical lessons, Britain has declared sanctions on all goods coming from Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank”) where are employed about 18,000 Palestinian workers, in order to pressure Israel into withdrawing its populations living in their ancient homeland, again with the solution being one of two-states, one being Judenrein- Jew-free. Never mind that the idea, after the horrific Oct. 7th massacre from Gaza, from which Israel had completely withdrawn in a Land for Peace experiment, is defunct. England also threatens the Jewish state with an arms embargo.
Of course, Britain now has its many problems in their own land to solve. The massive influx of Islamic immigrants has left the English population enraged at the sea change in their culture and their lives. But now with Muslim mayors of London, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Luton and others, that vocal anti-Israel voting block demonstrating on the streets and waving Palestinian flags, chanting ‘”from the river to the sea” must be appeased at all cost. And cost there will be.
Reacting to the British threat, Israel has closed the English consulate in East Jerusalem, and banned certain anti-Israel parliamentarians from entering Israel. Aside from providing much advanced technological and medical materials to the UK, Israel also shares intelligence which has prevented more terror attacks on British soil. There will be other ramifications as well, such as sanctions of British products by Israel’s good friends abroad.
As the UK again betrays the Jewish people in their biblical homeland after two thousand years, so does Muhammad’s Jihadi invasion increase onto English shores of that shrinking island, as the sun sets on the once great British empire.
