The politics of hurting Arabs to hurt Jews

Belgium is just another nation following the lead of Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands, all of whom have chosen to ban imports that originate from Israeli settlements. 

Even though not officially on the list, “Sweden, alongside France and other EU member states, is urging the European Commission to implement strict trade restrictions or a full import ban on settlement products.”

Ironically, each of these countries are the site of massive pro-Palestinian demonstrations against Israel, bearing the bitter lament of protesters, whose tears could fill a river as they feel the pain for “the oppressed” of Gaza and those living in “the territories,” properly identified as Judea and Samaria.

But here’s the mystery. How much sympathy does one really have for suffering and oppressed Arabs, when thousands of them stand to lose their livelihoods as a result of boycotting the very companies that employ them?

Sadly, in the hypocritical world of politics, hurting the downtrodden, is part of the price that must be paid to eliminate the evil oppressor, Israel. But how does that work in theory? Because as Europe continues to be the heartless continent, whose only strategy is to hurt Jews, by first hurting Arabs, no one can deny that Israel has been the only one willing to hire them.

Rather than acknowledge the helping hand offered by the Jewish state, Europe’s response is to take away what has been a lifesaver to so many of these Arabs who have relied upon the jobs that kept them afloat.

Companies, encompassing every industry from agriculture to construction, manufacturing, retail, education, food processing, textiles, cement/quarrying, olive-wood items, are on the prohibition list, banned from exporting goods to the “caring countries” who, in reality, are impoverishing Arabs.

Of course, disenfranchizing these workers is no skin off the noses of Europeans, who would rather be remembered for coming to the rescue of anyone they deem to be oppressed by the Jewish state.

For these stalwarts of human rights, the fact that 20-30,000 Arabs were employed by Israeli-owned businesses and factories in Judea and Samaria, prior to October 7, is of no consequence to them.  

Why should they lose any sleep, when hearing that the majority of these same workers lost their work permits once Israel found itself fighting a war which was forced upon them. After all, their sympathies only function during daytime hours when optimum reporting of protests take place.

The real contradiction, in all of this faux virtue-signaling is that the obvious consequences of being unemployed, such as the threat of starvation, homelessness and overall personal harm, seems to be unimportant. It seems that “unintended casualties,” are useful when you can blame Israel for the losses.

Neither Europeans nor Arab countries spend time thinking about the devastating effects a ban of goods would have on those they’ve promised to help. And that is because the goal is not really to make their lives better.  If that was truly their sincere objective, they would have, long ago, admitted that no one was doing more than Israel to provide them with the means to support themselves.

Instead, driven by the politics of antisemitism, along with their own contemptuous attitudes towards Jews, Europeans will find whatever means they can to tangibly show their long-held aversion and hostility, also displayed by their ancestors. 

While this generational repugnance may temporarily subside, for a period of time, as it did following the Holocaust, it seems to never completely die off but only re-emerge at a later date, when a scapegoat comes in handy.  October 7 provided that comeback. 

In truth, the act of placing a ban on Israeli goods, being exported to other countries, is really a ruse for what is actually going on. The real scandal is that these European countries, one of them being Belgium, have allowed massive amounts of radicalized Muslim migrants to come into their countries, importing their extreme hatred for Jews and Israelis.  

As they foment their intense hatred of the Jewish state, biased agencies such as Amnesty International, do their bidding. One such example is the overtly anti-Israel comment of Nathalie Janne, an advocacy officer for the group who said,

“Too few states are taking concrete steps today to end Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territory or impunity for the genocide in Gaza, the ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and the apartheid system imposed on the Palestinian people. This initiative increases the pressure for the adoption of such a measure at the level of the European Union, even though several Member States have adopted various forms of bans on settlement products; the calls for harmonized European action by the European Commission are thus becoming more and more insistent.”  

And there you have it in a nutshell. The libelous accusations are put forth, unaccompanied by factual evidence or documented examples. The goal is to pressure European nations to join forces to corporately punish Israel, eventually dispossessing them from their ancestral land. 

The sad reality is that these nations are happy to comply by weaponizing their purchasing power to hurt Israel. But by doing so, they first have to strike a deadly blow to the people for whom they claim to be defending. In effect, by the time they reach the ones who are intended to be most harmed, they will have already harmed the ones they supposedly longed to help.

Does that make any sense? Absolutely not, but that’s because their real goal is not coming to the rescue of so-called Palestinian victims. That would require focusing their energies on the terrorist leaders, responsible for making Arabs homeless, jobless and penniless, a fact which cannot be denied.

Hamas, Hezbollah and the Palestinian Authority have done more to harm their own people than what they claim Israel has done, when rightfully trying to defend itself after having been brutally and savagely attacked.  

The ban of Israeli goods to European countries is just a cover story for the real intent of economically bruising the Jewish state, but the politically-motivated act has serious and lasting fallout on Arabs who have never been able to rely on others to help them. 

Only useful as victims, that will only worsen with a ban on imports from Judea and Samaria. But that’s the objective. Crush them, to crush Israel.
