Purim War against Iran
Shalom this Purim, which begins tomorrow evening (Monday), for those whose God is YHVH, the Keeper of Israel who neither slumbers nor sleeps!
Yesterday (Saturday) morning at 5:45 we woke to the sounds of combat aircraft flying overhead. I wasn’t sure if this was the expected attack on Iran or not, because they were going “slower” than I remember from last June. At 8:00 our phones loudly vibrated to warn all of Israel to be on high alert. At 8:15, the sirens went off in Beer Sheva and our neighborhood that there were incoming missiles from Iran. We went down to our shelter for the first of several times that Shabbat; and we knew that we needed to notify the whole congregation of Yeshua’s Inheritance that our service would be cancelled. Even as I have been preparing this letter we have had to go down to our shelter. Even though Iran has been shooting to all parts of Israel, except for Eilat till now, they are not firing the numbers that they did last June. The joint US-Israel attack on Iran has been quick and powerful, but the outcome is still not certain.
Many commentators, both in Israel and elsewhere, have been saying how this war is “biblical” in its significance. That is certainly true, and many Jews and Christians should perk up their ears when they hear that. Nearly all of the jihadisti leadership of Iran have been killed, including the supreme leader Khamanei. BTW, his name, and that of the first supreme leader, Khomeini, when the Shah was overthrown in 1979, are both variations of the biblical name of Haman, the archetypal enemy of the Jews in the Persian/Iranian Empire in the Book/Scroll of Esther in the Tanach/Old Testament. The decree of the Persian King Ahasverus, according to the law of the Persians, which gave the people in his huge kingdom the order to kill the Jews, cannot be rescinded.
His second decree, once he realized that Haman deceived him, and that his Queen Esther, whom he loved, was also a Jew, as was her uncle Mordecai, who helped save his life from assassination, he gave a second decree to counter the first; in other words, he gave the Jews the right to defend themselves, and to kill those who sought to destroy them as a people. Haman himself was hung on a gallows that he had constructed to hang Mordecai on. This decree is also, therefore, still in effect, and we see it being played out more than 2400 years later in our generation! Even if either of these decrees should succeed or fail, the unrescindable decree and New Covenant of YHVH, God of Israel, overrides them both, and only Jesus/Yeshua will save Israel from being utterly destroyed as a nation, and only Jesus/Yeshua will save any Iranian who puts their faith and hope in Him, the Redeemer of Israel and Savior of the world.
Those who make light of or hate the Jews and the Christians do so because they make light of or hate the sovereign Creator who has chosen them to make Him known, even if they themselves do not believe in or exalt Him.
We are living in Bible times: many of the prophecies written long ago are coming to pass in our day, and current events are converging with them to help give us an understanding of the times in which we live, and how that affects what the Body of Messiah/Christ should do, and how we as believers should live. It is not certain yet how this war will end: President Trump has those within his own administration and within his Republican Party, not to mention the Democratic Party, who oppose the US attack against an avowed enemy of America whose goal in life is to destroy both “Christian” America and “Jewish” Israel. They oppose America’s partnership and support of Israel. Elections are already looming in US politics and governance, and should these naysayers win the day, then the President may stop short of winning the war, and give in to negotiations which leaves the Iranian regime still in power, much like Hamas, despite its “defeat”, is still a controlling element in Gaza. And, should the regime fall, it is not clear at this time who or what will replace it to lead the country religiously, militarily, politically — and whether Iran would be changed to be an asset to “the West”. Iran has also been firing missiles to neighboring Muslim countries, either because they are willing to cooperate with Israel or the U.S. pragmatically, or because they want to pressure them to call upon Pres. Trump to stop the war and “make a deal”. We shall have to wait and see.
I am not sure if this war is part of the war described in Ps 83, but as I have written since the beginning of the Oct 7 massacre in 2023, and Israel’s response to its enemies surrounding her, there are elements of that war taking place, with Iran the “head of the octopus”. Its tentacles/proxies have been nearly cut off, but an octopus has been created by God with amazing cleverness and with regenerative capabilities! Like a serpent, the head must be crushed or severed. But the outcome of that war — whether one war, or a series of wars — is that the Muslims will know that YHVH is Most High over all the Earth, not their god!
Persia/Iran is still an enemy of Israel at the end, one of the “many peoples” joining Gog in their final assault upon the land and people of Israel in the “latter days”. The outcome of that final war results in the God of Israel’s declaration: ” Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. And they shall know that I am YHVH!” “And I will not hide My face from them (the Jewish people/Israel) anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit in the house of Israel”, says the Lord YHVH.” (Ezek 38-39)
I, for one, cannot figure out all the intricacies of God’s wisdom as to how things line up and play out. If any of us could, so could the Devil! And the God of Hosts/Armies is not going to let His archenemy know in advance what His battle plan is in bringing about his demise and the deliverance and salvation of His people Israel. But a regime change in this world is surely going to come! Come, Lord Jesus! Let us cooperate with God according to what He has revealed to us through the prophetic word, and let Him do what He has to do in order to get what He wants, which is what our Lord and Savior suffered and died for on the cross.
Many blessings in the knowledge of God, and that He knows you.
May many more Iranians find their hope and salvation in Jesus Christ!
Thank-you for your prayers for Israel’s repentance back to her God and King.
