Boy George stood up for Israel – Will others have the courage to follow?

I find myself agreeing with people I never thought I would agree with.
J.K. Rowling wrote the Harry Potter series about spells and magic. It’s not the sort of thing that you would associate with as a Christian.
But J.K. Rowling has stood up to the mob and made her opinions known about gender. I appreciate her for that, especially now that she is paying a price for doing so.
And now Boy George has put his head in the firing line by releasing his latest song, We Will Dance Again, with the powerful words: “You say genocide, I say war.”
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if that was chanted on the stage at Greenbelt this year instead of the hateful words, “Death to the IDF”?
I never thought I would be agreeing with Boy George, but I do.
Life is full of surprises.
ALL ISRAEL NEWS recently ran a story about Boy George’s song:
British 1980s pop icon George Alan O'Dowd, better known as Boy George, released the song "We Will Dance Again" on Monday, honoring the victims of Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in Israel.
The song includes Hebrew lyrics, expresses support for the Jewish people, and was shared across the singer's social media accounts with the hashtag "Shalom."
Without a doubt, Boy George will pay a price for standing up for the Jewish people. We have already seen the response, and he has had to pull out of the West End musical Jesus Christ Superstar, where he was playing the villain Herod, who murdered Jewish children. In real life, he is standing up for the Jewish nation, especially children like the Bibas children, who were brutally murdered.
It is sad that he has had to pull out, but sometimes that is the price you pay for your principles, and I’m sure he thought about this before he released the music.
We have seen the way the pro-Palestine mob has acted in the past, and I am sure there would have been a mob outside the theatre demonstrating, making people feel uncomfortable, and possibly a mob inside causing disruption. I am only speculating, though.
It really wouldn’t have been fair to the other actors who have worked so hard on the production. Again, Boy George has made what I believe is the right and brave decision, thinking not only about himself but about others.
He may also lose a few sales in the future. But in reality, this has been a brave decision to stand up for the Jewish people, especially in our cancel culture. I hope this encourages others to go against the tide and shout the truth: It isn’t genocide; it is war.
I don’t think his song is going to change many minds. If you are a hardened pro-Palestine supporter who has been indoctrinated by a false narrative, then you probably won’t change your mind. You may instead be angry with Boy George, possibly thinking of new ways to boycott him for daring to speak his mind when what he says goes against everything you stand for.
If you are pro-Israel, and especially if you are a Christian, then you already understand the spiritual battle Israel is in, just like the spiritual battle Christians face every day in life.
He probably will win over a few people who are on the fence, but in reality, what Boy George has done is put his neck on the line and stood up to the hate and bullying that he knows he is going to receive because of this.
He has made a decision that the mob isn’t going to dictate to him what he should do or think.
It takes courage to stand up and shout against the stream.
I know Palestinians who believe in Israel, but they would never say out loud what they think because of the backlash it would cause.
I hope the fact that Boy George is willing to face the music when it comes to the criticism he receives will encourage others to stand up for their convictions, knowing that it isn’t going to be an easy ride.
But nevertheless, stand.
Because you are not just standing against the tide; you are standing up for the 1,200 people who were massacred on October 7.
You are standing up for the 364 people who were killed at the Nova Music Festival. You are standing up for Shiri Bibas, Ariel Bibas, who was four years old, and Kfir Bibas, who was nine months old, who were horrifically kidnapped and then brutally murdered.
You are standing up for the many soldiers who have been killed protecting our great nation.
That is who you are standing up for.

That is what Boy George is doing today. He is defending the Jewish people’s right to protect themselves. He is being a voice for those who were massacred and brutally murdered, and he is speaking out as a voice for Ariel and Kfir.
We need more people like Boy George who have the courage to stand up for what is right. We need people willing to stand, knowing there will be a cost.
May we have the heart and courage to do the same and stand up for what is right.
