Violent clashes between police and protesters at rally supporting Attorney General Baharav-Miara in Tel Aviv

Violent clashes broke out on Sunday evening between the Israel Police and protesters during a demonstration in Tel Aviv in support of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.
The demonstrators are calling for the cancellation of the proceedings to dismiss Baharav-Miara.
Shortly before the clashes began, former Supreme Court Justice Ayala Procaccia addressed the rally, stating that “dismissal has become the new game for eliminating any independent senior official.”
She further added that “the leadership has declared war on proper democratic processes. We are sliding down a slope into the abyss. Now is the time to unite in determined resistance.”
Tomorrow, the government is expected to vote on the attorney general's dismissal.
Subsequently, the High Court of Justice is expected to issue an interim injunction to freeze the dismissal, in light of ongoing petitions against the process.
About two weeks ago, following a second hearing held for the attorney general, the Ministerial Committee announced its recommendation to continue the dismissal process against Baharav-Miara.
The attorney general herself did not attend the hearings and harshly criticized the process.
Baharav-Miara claims the government is acting to remove her for ulterior motives.
According to her, the reasons are “corruption and attempts to influence ongoing criminal proceedings.”
