Hamas-linked suspect arrested in Denmark over alleged Europe terror attack plot
The eighth Hamas member of a terrorist cell allegedly plotting to attack Jewish and Israeli targets in Europe was arrested last week, according to Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s (GBA) Office.
The suspect, identified only as Yousif C., holds Danish citizenship and was arrested by Danish police near Copenhagen following an arrest warrant issued by the GBA last Wednesday.
Yousif C. is suspected of Hamas membership, planning terrorist activities and violating Germany’s Weapons Act.
“Yousif C. is a member of the terrorist organization Hamas. In July 2025, he handed over five pistols and ammunition to Abed Al G., who is being prosecuted separately… Abed Al G. then passed the firearms on to Mohammed A., who is also being prosecuted separately…for transport to Vienna. This action was intended to prepare for Hamas's planned attacks on Israeli or Jewish institutions in Germany and Europe,” the GFPO said.
In October 2025, German security forces arrested three men suspected of planning a large-scale terror attack against a Jewish or Israeli target on behalf of Hamas. The police found an AK-47 rifle, a pistol and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in their possession at the time of the mens' arrests in the capital, Berlin. At the time, German Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said the authorities “assume that this threat was concrete.”
Around the same time, Austria’s intelligence agency uncovered a Hamas-linked weapons cache in Vienna, which they believed was intended for “possible terrorist attacks in Europe.” The arsenal included five handguns and 10 magazines that were placed in a suitcase. Meanwhile, authorities in London arrested a 39-year-old British citizen for reportedly “having close ties to the weapons cache,” according to the Austrian Interior Ministry.
“According to the current state of the investigation, Israeli or Jewish institutions in Europe were likely to be the targets of these attacks.”
Yousif C is not the only terror suspect linked to Denmark. In November, Lebanese-born Borhan El-K was arrested when entering Germany from Czechia, during his return trip to Denmark, where he resided. Borhan El-K purportedly provided alleged Hamas operative Wael F. with a Kalashnikov automatic rifle, eight Glock pistols, and 600 rounds of ammunition in August. Wael was also arrested in October 2025.
In September 2024, Israel’s foreign ministry revealed that Israel's Mossad intelligence agency had foiled at least 50 Iran-backed terror plots targeting Jews and Israelis globally since Oct. 7, 2023.
In October 2024, a European intelligence report confirmed that the Iranian regime had been employing criminal gangs to target Jews and Israeli nationals residing in Europe.
