Yashar leader Eisenkot vows to end Hamas' rule in Gaza within 18 months if elected as PM

Gadi Eisenkot, whose Yashar party has lead most polls in recent weeks, vowed to quickly bring the war in Gaza to an end if elected as prime minister at the end of the month.

In a statement near the Gaza border, the former IDF chief of staff promised, “Within 18 months of taking office as prime minister, Hamas will no longer rule the Gaza Strip. We will bring about the destruction of Hamas’s military wing.”

This would be achieved through supporting U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan or military action, Eisenkot said. “As long as Benjamin Netanyahu remains in power, Hamas will remain in power,” he added.

In response, the Likud party asked, “How will you defeat Hamas without getting permission from your partners Mansour [Abbas] and [Ahmad] Tibi?” referring to the leaders of the Arab parties Ra’am and Ta’al, respectively.
