Ultra-Orthodox extremists protest in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh, block light rail
Extremist Haredi protesters blocked roads in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh following the arrest of an ultra-Orthodox military draft evader during the week of his wedding. The demonstrations also disrupted Jerusalem’s light rail service.
Clashes broke out between protesters and police, who used stun grenades to disperse the crowds. Five demonstrators were injured, including a young man in moderate condition.
The Jerusalem Faction is expected to hold another protest outside a military prison on Tuesday.
