Trump says US to run Strait of Hormuz, become ‘guardian angel’ of waterway
Speaking with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that the U.S. could take over and manage the Strait of Hormuz.
“We hit them very hard last night,” President Trump said regarding the U.S. strikes on Iran overnight. “We had a deal. It was a done deal. And then they broke it. They always break it.”
“So, we're just going to hit them very hard. And we're going to keep the straight, and we'll probably run it,” Trump continued. “We'll become the guardian of the strait. Maybe we'll call it the ‘guardian angel of the strait.”
President Trump also said the U.S. should be “reimbursed for that.”
Claiming the U.S. “guarded the strait for 50 years, more, and we never got paid for it,” Trump continued, saying, “Now we're going to guard it, and we're going to get paid for guarding it. A lot of money.”
