Report: Iran rebuilding nuclear sites ahead of possible confrontation with US
Iran is strengthening defenses around sensitive sites, including nuclear facilities such as Pickaxe Mountain and Natanz, and preparing the public for the possibility of renewed military confrontation with the United States, The Wall Street Journal reported today.
Satellite images show fortifications, including earthen berms around the sites, intended to make attacks more difficult.
The regime is convinced that Trump may strike again after the midterm elections and views the preparations as a means of deterrence.
Iranian officials have warned, both publicly and in private conversations with regional officials, that Iran will respond with a broader escalation across the Middle East if the United States launches new attacks.
Some have hinted at the possibility of ground raids or attacks on targets such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi oil facilities and data centers.
