The den of iniquity called the Oxford Union

Founded in 1823, the Oxford Union, led by students, primarily from Oxford University, is known as a debating society which hosts high-profile individuals such as Douglas Murray, Joseph Hadad, Mosab Hassan Yousef, Dennis Prager, Ben Shapiro and the late Charlie Kirk.

Most recently, they made headlines after their vote asserted that “Israel is a greater threat to regional stability than Iran.” By a wide majority of 265-113, it was accepted that an extreme Mullah-run, radical Islamic republic, with nuclear aspirations to finish off the Jewish state as well as other regional nations to whom they are opposed, is less perilous than Israel.

But the joke is on them, because these “great minds,” who allegedly represent the best, brightest and most articulate that Oxford and other Universities can offer, have come to the conclusion that the country which runs to the assistance of nations in trouble is the “greater threat.” As they say, “You can’t make this stuff up!”

Here's the kicker! Why is Israel a greater threat? Because, according to Lincoln College’s speaker, Alex Webster, “Israel holds more sway with global powers. They get all of the guns but none of the consequences.”

Another debater, former Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh added that Israel is an “expansionist, colonialist state and that Israel acts above the law, not respecting UN resolutions.” He continued to state that “Israel is an aggressive, nuclear armed state and a center of a colonial regime that is based on apartheid against the Palestinian people.”

Apparently, he missed the fact that Palestinian judge, Khaled Kabub sits on the Supreme Court as did Salim Joubran from 2004 – 2024. Also unbeknownst to him is that other Palestinian judges serve in lower District and Magistrate courts. These are not anomalies, though.

Currently, there are ten Arab members in the Israeli Knesset who are active in their respective political parties. But wait, there’s more… Arabs hold prestigious positions in top Israeli universities. They are also respected doctors in the country’s many hospitals.

They serve in the IDF, even as commanders. In fact, there is almost no profession where you will not find Arab representation – a difficult feat if the country truly implements a policy of apartheid.

So, with that contention being proven false, let’s go to his next claim of Israel being an expansionist/colonialist state. Israel has no colonies, protectorates or underling nations, similar to that of the British Empire or other truly colonialist countries, whose power and influence extended to other continents.

Whatever territory it has amassed, beyond what was bestowed upon it by the U.N. partition vote of 1947, has been as the result of land seizures, attained through the many wars fought by Middle East neighbors who sought to annihilate the Jewish state.

If taking back land, which rightly belonged to Israel per the Scriptures, makes it an expansionist/colonialist state, then what can you say about other countries, including the U.S. that took land which had not even been divinely promised to them? There is no law forbidding such acquisitions. To the victor belongs the spoils!

Nonetheless, it took us over 77 years to acquire the still tiny portion of land which constitutes the State of Israel, making us either the slowest or the worst expansionists who ever existed.

So, what’s really sticking in Shtayyeh’s craw? Israel is only aggressive when she must be. As with any other nation, all attacks against them will be met with aggression.  When a planned massacre took place, Israel did what it had to do – go into enemy territory and root out the threat!  Who would not have done the same?

The real beef held by Israel’s haters is what was argued by Webster – that “Israel holds more sway with global powers.” But why is that? Israel, for all its criticism, is recognized as a positive world leader which has generously shared its technological, medical, agricultural, military and intelligence advancements with the enlightened world, making it a better place for all.

As previously mentioned, Israeli ingenuity and empathy have been major forces in coming to the rescue of others, usually being the first to send in doctors and other helping hands who can rapidly build field hospitals, save lives and rebuild ruined communities after devastating floods, earthquakes or other natural disasters.

It's hard to recall the last time Iran made such a contribution to anyone. Other than financing and arming murderous terrorist regimes, who are their proxy fighters, they offer no help.

Consequently, Israel has earned the respect and admiration of others who know that if push comes to shove, they can count on the Jewish state for the help and advice they so desperately need.

It is this kind of righteous regard for mankind that has rightly given Israel “sway” with global powers, something which cannot result for dictatorial, terrorist nations that offer nothing positive to the world. So, the thought that Israel would be respected and honored in any way is what really irritates these people.

To them, Israel must be rejected and alienated. Her reputation must be thoroughly tarnished to the point of oblivion. Nothing good may be associated with her as she is rendered the greatest evil ever known to humanity. Only then can her enemies feel that justice has been served.

The existential threat of Iran, to its neighboring countries as well as Israel, is purposely downplayed by dishonest actors who know full well that if they had to choose where to live, it wouldn’t be under the rule of the despicable ayatollahs. Regrettably, the vote at Oxford Union doesn’t take that into consideration. Their only goal is to declare Israel as the world’s ultimate menace, in need of being extinguished.

It is this kind of dishonest and fraudulent deceit which is so obviously seen for what it is – the jealous and malicious unbridled hatred of the country which was divinely chosen to be a light to the nations. It wasn’t them, so it can’t be anyone else.

For the Oxford Union to lead the academic procession of lies, claiming that Israel is the greatest clear and present danger in our world today, undermines all credibility and sincerity in future determinations it may seek to bring, because no one will ever take them seriously again.

They have proven themselves to be the consummate den of iniquity where truth goes to die rather than flourish!
