My husband’s disturbing dream

As shocking events around the world unfold, moment by moment, it’s no wonder that many of us are beginning to struggle consciously and even subconsciously, unable to escape the distress of our rapidly changing world even as we sleep.

It is in the midst of all of these troubling occurrences, which traumatize our inner psyche, that my husband experienced a nightmare that shook him to the core. In his dream, he described being at a public restroom which was covered from top to bottom with feces, resulting in an unbearable stench.

It was at that moment when he realized that he was holding a giant hose in his hand. Immediately starting the cleanup, he turned it on, in an attempt to rid the area of its visible, shameful degradation as well as the horrific odor it was putting out.

As my husband meticulously detailed what he saw and experienced, I couldn’t help but view this dream as a mirror image of what is taking place in our world. Each day and night, we are being exposed to the most shocking and troubling accounts of a civilization that has gone mad!

Life has become an open hunting season for the deranged, who are multiplying faster than we can count. A terrible sickness has infected what was once considered a relatively normal society, with mounting evidence of this demented malady being daily displayed.

Everything from spouses murdering their partners to random savage acts of stabbings and now to a political assassination, resulting from an inculcated hatred caused by the inability to tolerate a different opinion.

For those of us who live in Israel, we have witnessed a resurrection of the primitive, tribal and barbaric behaviors, which more characterize the Dark Ages of the 5th century, recorded as the worst period to be alive.

It is with this backdrop that global strategist and diplomacy expert, Gabriel Rosenberg sums up the Charlie Kirk assassination, stating, “These tragedies are unfolding in a world that is otherwise progressing in extraordinary ways.  People live longer, technology connects us, and artificial intelligence (AI) has entered our daily lives.

“Yet, our politics grows darker. Polarization is rising across nearly every democracy. Rhetoric has grown harsher…this is not just the work of anonymous trolls. It has become the language of our leaders, our media and our public square.”

Rosenberg, bewildered as to how it’s possible for such great advancement to lead us down a dark path rather than provide a renewed enlightenment, which would be the expected outcome, is a compelling argument. Yet, it seems to be an ongoing consequence that accompanies each breakthrough.

The decades of humanity distancing itself from the Almighty, who enables right thinking, proper order and living in accordance with morality, justice and mercy, has taken its toll on each one of us. Subjecting society to the most brutal crimes and primal behavior, our world has been splattered, almost beyond repair, with the excrement of evil.

The haunting question is, “Will anyone be able to clean up all the filth and stench which is self-inflicted?”

As our own worst enemies, we are allowing the worst of humanity to dominate the public square of our planet. Standing as bystanders and spectators, to the depravity which is unfolding at lightning speed, most of us find ourselves helpless in knowing how to reverse the carnage, but reverse it, we must!

Charlie Kirk devoted his life to that pursuit. Seeing the need to bring a message of hope, goodness and right order, he sought to engage upcoming generations in compelling ways that could change the trajectory of where we were heading. Ironically, a few demented souls have categorized his message as hate speech. Nothing could be farther from the truth!

Anyone who endeavors to replace the darkness with light, bringing hope to a world which has clearly lost its way, cannot be defined as a person whose words reflect evil. The fact that those, involved in the disseminating of real hate, are, themselves, unable to spot the illumination of truth, is not surprising.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t detract from the important work, to which good people are dedicated, in tightly grasping the hose, in their hand, to clean up the refuse of the mess we have made.

Bringing hope and kindness to those who suffer from the slings and arrows of bad people who injure and wound, is the mission they hope to accomplish. How blessed we are to have such individuals for whom instant personal gratification is less of a motivating factor than coming to the aid of a broken world.

We owe them a debt of gratitude as they diligently seek to undo the damage of which only humans are capable. The destruction, by way of cruel and sadistic carnage, of every form known to man, outs each one of us as unfit to manage society on our own.

If anything, all of these insufferable events point to the need for divine intervention of a God who has been corporately rejected. It exposes our desperate need for instruction, understanding and the guidance which comes from above. Without it, we are, sadly, left to our own devices which are rapidly leading us to the end of civilization.

But is it already too late? Are we fighting a losing battle? Has a cloud of mental incapacity covered large swaths of our human community, rendering us unable to make a sharp U-turn?

Regardless of whether or not we have waited too long to fix what is wrong, we must try!  Because anything less would be a capitulation to the profound evil that is taking hold of our species, keeping us entangled and bound to our own terrible proclivities.

It is the job of each one to find his personal hose, whether it be extending acts or words of kindness to others, calling out wrong thinking when we hear it, passionately making our case for truth and justice or whatever other tools we possess to bring about goodness.

At the same time, we must point an ever-growing ungodly segment of society back to their Maker, encouraging them to seek a path leading to Him in order to overcome their dark inclinations which so easily take hold of us.

Only then, will we be able to begin the long cleanup process of our public space so that we can live as God’s intended creation.
