Is Rabbi Tuly Weisz correct that Tucker Carlson is the most dangerous mouthpiece for replacement theology

Rabbi Tuly Weisz’s article entitled, “The champion of replacement theology” went through the back and forth of a recent podcast episode between Tucker Carlson and Senator Ted Cruz, centering around the merits of supporting Israel.

What became obvious, after reading the exchange, was that each of these men were out of their depth when attempting to expound on the scriptures relating to Israel. Cruz, to his credit, quoted the passage, “I will bless those who bless you (Israel) and curse those who curse you,” as his basis for supporting Israel but was caught off guard when asked to reference where it’s written.

Tucker Carlson, immediately feeling emboldened by Cruz’s inability to respond, began to cast doubt on whether or not modern-day Israel qualifies as the definition of that biblical reference. Weisz’s conclusion is that Carlson is now championing replacement theology, which essentially holds that God is done with Israel and has, therefore, abandoned her.

While it’s a pity that Cruz, obviously a lover of Israel, came unprepared to support his claim, this exchange attests to the fact that he hasn’t been paying attention to the radical change which has taken place over the last couple of years when it comes to the man whose popularity at Fox News was only slightly less than that of Donald J. Trump’s.

And that is, perhaps, the reason why Weisz says that Tucker Carlson is the most dangerous mouthpiece for replacement theology, a claim upon which the rabbi failed to expound.  Most of us were devotees of the man who hosted his own nightly show on primetime. Held captive by his riveting subjects, we were grateful for the clear and honest voice which exposed some of the greatest scandals and frauds that were being perpetrated right under our nose, but about which few of us knew.

All we saw was a forthright man of great integrity who appeared humble but resolved in bringing forth worthy subjects which others would not tackle, and for that, he had our great admiration, evidenced by the non-stop, raucous applause he would receive anytime he appeared at rallies, conferences or other events.

Then something happened. He left Fox, supposedly on a mutually agreed-upon basis and began his own enterprise,Tucker Carlson Network, where he began to interview many controversial people. One such individual was Bethlehem clergyman Munther Isaac, who expressed much anti-Israel sentiment which received no pushback from Carlson. Isaac, who identifies as a Palestinian Christian pastor “justified Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel.”

Unconvinced that there was another side that needed to be heard, Tucker never felt the need to present it, but had he, it would have served to expose Munther Isaac’s greatly biased position which portrayed Israel as the enemy.

Of course, had Tucker been a student of the bible, which he clearly is not, he could have easily refuted the propagandized claims of this politically-motivated clergyman who should be ashamed to purport to be a man who knows and understands the scriptures.

For there are countless references which categorically state that God will never abandon Israel or allow them to be destroyed, the most powerful of which is found in the 33rd chapter of Jeremiah, “If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant …If My covenant for day and not stand not, and the fixed patters of heaven and earth I have not established, then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant.” (vs. 20-26)

Modern-day Israel is the direct descendant of Jacob and David, but if there is further proof needed, one can turn to the prophet Zechariah who spoke about the end times and what would take place in chapter 14. “For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle…Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations as when He fights on a day of battle.” (vs. 2,3)

That clinches the argument that not only is God not finished with Israel, but He will physically fight for her when all nations come against her. The final battle is fought by God on behalf of His people!

But these two scriptures are far from the only documented word, reassuring His commitment to the Jewish people and the land which He gave them. But men whose central focus is on the politics of our day might be ignorant of those references, because their worldview may be more in line with the current events of our time or the flawed men who lead governments.

Although Weisz is correct in his assertion that Tucker Carlson has adopted the replacement theology rhetoric, he may be wrong in his belief that he is the most dangerous mouthpiece for that position, because Carlson has taken a bad spill from his respected perch!

For those of us who pay attention to podcasters, up and coming pundits and the many subjects trending on social media, we have been fully aware of the great change which has taken place in Tucker Carlson. Once claiming to be in search of spiritual truths and the importance of faith, he has, instead, chosen to align with the side that sees Israel as a liability with imperfections that disqualify it for identifying as the rightful heirs of blessing, whose forebears, Jacob and David inherited those promises.

He has, instead, cynically interpreted the America First agenda to be one which is best employed through an isolationist approach, meaning that America should just tend to issues which directly concern them. Of course, he is missing the obvious flaw in that way of thinking.  America is equally at risk of attack, just by virtue of the fact that it is the most powerful Western nation of all. Taking it down would be the ultimate feather in the cap of any Muslim terrorist nation.

Furthermore, Hamas/Hezbollah sleeper cells, already embedded in the U.S. cannot be ignored. The likelihood of their executing an attack is not minimal. In fact, it’s more of a matter of when!

In the meantime, one fact is incontrovertible, and that is the tangible evidence that we are not alone. Countless miracles are still being observed as Israel continues to win against all odds! No, we have not been replaced, regardless of any claims Tucker Carlson may make!
