'Zionism is terrorism' - Anti-Israel activists plan mass protests outside UN building in New York

Anti-Israel groups are planning mass protests outside the United Nations building in Manhattan later this month, aiming to coincide with the UN General Assembly – an annual event each September that draws world leaders from across the globe. Tensions are expected to rise later this week, when U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are scheduled to address the world body.
Some smaller anti-Israel events have already been held outside the UN building.
An anti-Israel activist recently heckled Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon in a video posted on 𝕏 by the anti-Israel and antisemitic organization Within Our Lifetime.
“Zionism is terrorism. All you guys are terrorists committing ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza and Palestine. Shame on you, Zionist animals,” the anti-Israel activist shouted at the Israeli ambassador. “You’re committing a Holocaust now against the Palestinian people,” the activist added.
Within Out Lifetime (WOL), a radical Marxist organization that openly calls for Israel’s destruction, has threatened to “flood the UN General Assembly for Gaza.”
Last Friday, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution backing “irreversible” path towards the establishment of a “Palestinian state.”
The non-binding resolution was approved by a majority of 142 countries. Twelve countries abstained while 10 countries including Israel, the United States, Argentina and Hungary voted against the resolution.
Despite the overwhelming anti-Israel sentiment at the UN, WOL has blasted the international body for failing to act against what it describes as a “genocide” in Gaza.
“We will be there to confront them with the truth: Their silence and inaction enable genocide. The world cannot continue as if Gaza does not exist,” the WOL stated.
“This is the time to make our voices impossible to ignore. Come to New York by any means necessary, to stand, to march, to demand the UN act and end the siege,” it added.
The Jewish Voice for Peace and Palestinian Youth Movement are two other radical anti-Israel political groups that are scheduled to participate in the anti-Zionist march next Friday when Netanyahu will address the UN. The anti-Israel groups are expected to march from the Times Square to the UN building. The anti-Israel groups demand that Netanyahu should be arrested as a “genocidal war criminal.”
“The time is now for each and every UN member state to uphold their duty under international law: sanction Israel and end the genocide,” the anti-Israel groups recently wrote on Instagram.
Israel has strongly rejected the charge of “genocide” in Gaza. Major Western powers like the United States and Germany have also rejected the “genocide” charge against Israel. The British government, which has been vocal in its criticism of Israel of late, however recently concluded that Israel is not committing “genocide” in Gaza.
A growing number of Western countries like France, the UK, Canada, Australia and Belgium have vowed to unilaterally recognize a “Palestinian state” at the UN summit this month.
The U.S. and Israel have argued that the unilateral recognition of “Palestine” at this point in time rewards Hamas terrorism and the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of 1,200 Israelis and kidnapping of 251 people. Hamas and its allies still hold 48 Israeli hostages in Gaza including up to 20 who are believed to be still alive.
