JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – “How close was the Iranian regime to being able to have nuclear weapons and being able to pull off a Second Holocaust?”

That’s the question I put to Israeli Cabinet Minister Amichai Chikli, who serves as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s point man for diaspora affairs and combating antisemitism.

After all, Israelis and Jews around the world have just observed Holocaust Remembrance Day, taking time to contemplate the horror of 6 million of our people being slaughtered by a Nazi regime that the world did not take seriously, by Adolf Hitler’s regime that the West did not stop before it was almost too late.

“Extremely close,” the minister told me.

The Iranian regime was just “several months” away from building fully operational nuclear weapons, he said.

By January, Tehran already had enough highly enriched uranium for 11 nuclear bombs.

“The ambition of the Iranian regime was very clear: the annihilation of the State of Israel and the Jewish people,” Chikli explained.

That’s why the U.S. and Israel had to act and not wait any longer.

“It is the Nazi regime of the time, an evil and vicious regime that murdered countless innocent people,” he said, including “people in the streets of Tehran and other cities in Iran, thousands of Americans, [and] thousands of Israelis.”

Minister Chikli and I met for the first time in Jerusalem for about an hour.

We talked about how much progress the U.S. and Israel have made in their joint operation against the Iranian regime and Hezbollah.

We talked about the emergence of “The 8th Front,” the white-hot propaganda war being waged against Israel, against Christians who love Israel, and against Judeo-Christian civilization writ large, and how this 8th Front is being driven primarily by Radical Islamism.

We also talked about the about the importance of Israel building much stronger and deeper ties with the world’s 2.5 billion Christians, and especially the world’s 600 million Evangelical Christians.

The first half of our conversation aired on THE ROSENBERG REPORT on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), the most watched Christian television network in the U.S.

The rest of the interview will be posted next week on THE ROSENBERG REPORT’S YouTube channel.

CHIKLI PRAISES TRUMP & NETANYAHU FOR TAKING ACTION

Chikli gives enormous credit, as well he should, to President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu for taking decisive military action before it was too late and against the elite opinion makers in the West who said Tehran wasn’t a serious or imminent threat.

“I think that this is one of the most important and brave wars that we have had in our history,” the minister told me.

“I’m so proud that we have the honor to fight alongside the U.S. against this evil regime.”

“I have tremendous respect for Trump,” he added, noting that tremendous “pressure [was] coming from Turkey and Qatar not to go into this war, and also domestically” from some on the right wing of the Republican Party such as Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, and others who were pushing Trump hard not to use the military.

Before Feb. 28, “I didn’t know for sure what was going to happen,” Chikli conceded, but noted that Trump is “a man who’s capable of going into action – that’s for sure.”

Chikli also praised Prime Minister Netanyahu, while blasting Israeli Opposition leaders such as Naftali Bennett, Gadi Eisenkot, and Yair Lapid.

“I think Netanyahu showed tremendous leadership doing this very, very difficult war,” he said, whether it was attacking the Iranian threat as no other Israeli leader had ever done before or pushing harder than others to vanquish Hamas and Hezbollah.

2025 WAS ONE OF THE DEADLIEST YEARS FOR JEWS WORLDWIDE

“Let's talk about the global firestorm,” I said at one point in the interview. “That’s what I'm calling it. This 8th Front of horrific Jew-hatred is not just against Israel and against, Jewish people worldwide, but also against Christians who love Israel and love Jews.”

“Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and many others are not just attacking Israel and the Jews,” I noted. “They’re [also] really trying to separate Evangelicals and Catholics from Israel and the Jewish people.”

“This is your portfolio,” I noted. “You’ve had two conferences on combating antisemitism. What is at the heart of this hatred? And what are you telling Christians, ‘This is what we need from you?'"

Chikli replied that his Ministry “just published a report that 2025 was one of the deadliest years in terms of lethal antisemitism.”

There were violent and deadly events in Bondi Beach in Australia, Manchester, England, and Boulder, Colorado, where an elderly woman, a Holocaust survivor no less, was demonstrating for the release of the Israeli hostages and was murdered when someone threw a Molotov cocktail..

“What unites these lethal incidents are that most of them are coming from Radical Islamists,” Chikli noted.

“I think that the threat that is coming from Radical Islam is the thing that we need to put a focus on.”

“My efforts, especially in the last conference for combating antisemitism, was to bring together leaders from all across the world who understand the threat coming from Radical Islam.”

The minister is particularly concerned about exploding antisemitism in the U.S. on both the Left and the Right.

He pointed to the election of Zohran Mamdani, the new radical left-wing, Shia Muslim, socialist mayor of New York.

He also pointed to Tucker Carlson as the leader of anti-Jewish and anti-Israel hatred on the Right.

“What happened to Tucker Carlson? And unfortunately, there are others who follow Tucker Carlson.”

“I think that we need to follow the money,” Chikli said.

“It affects us” as Israelis, he said, “but it’s far more dangerous” for Americans.

“Tucker Carlson is far more dangerous for the Republican Party and for the future of America and its ability to stand against Sharia law and Radical Islam.”

“He’s obviously being pushed by the Islamists.”

“This is obvious,” he said, pointing to Tucker’s appearance in the Doha Conference and strong backing from the Qataris.

Tucker is asking, “Why not Sharia law?” suggesting that crime in America will be so much lower if you have Sharia law.

“You can [leave] the Lamborghini keys in the car because if they’re caught, their hands will be cut off, right?”

MINISTER CHIKLI SUPPORTS APPOINTMENT OF ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO THE CHRISTIAN WORLD

Later in our conversation, which took place on April 13, I noted that “over the last several years I’ve been asking various Israeli leaders in the government and in the opposition, ‘Would you support the first-ever appointment of an Israeli ambassador to the Christian world?’”

I noted that Prime Minister Netanyahu had expressed support for such an appointment at a Christian Media Summit his office had organized a number of years ago.

However, then came the COVID crisis, and multiple rounds of elections, and then Oct. 7, and then the war against the Iranian regime.

It has been understandable, therefore, why the appointment was never made.

But I noted that “I think we need this ambassador” to the Christian world because until now, “literally nobody [in the Israeli government] has it as their central portfolio.”

“I think it needs to be an Israeli,” I explained, “a Hebrew speaker, someone who served in the military, and who knows the Christian world.”

It wasn’t my idea to begin with.

I’ve simply been advocating it over the years, discussing with President Isaac Herzog, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and a range of Opposition leaders, including former Prime Minister Yair Lapid, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and former Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz.

All of them – and others – have enthusiastically supported the idea.

“Fascinating,” Chikli said. “So, that’s an amazing idea.”

Chikli immediately grasped and supported the concept because now more than ever, Israel absolutely needs such a diplomat to work directly with Evangelicals, Roman Catholics, Orthodox, and other Christians in the U.S. and all over the world.

Israel needs someone to explain Israel and answer the questions that Christians have.

Israel also needs to build stronger and deeper support for the Jewish state, and address problems that Christians inside Israel – both Israeli citizens and foreign national Christians living and working here – are having.

I was encouraged by how warmly Minister Chikli embraced the concept.

I was even more encouraged when, just days later, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced that he was appointing the first-ever Special Envoy to the Christian World.

In this role, he chose George Deek, a veteran Israeli diplomat with 18 years of experience.

Deek is an Arab-Israeli Christian born and raised in Jaffa.

As ALL ISRAEL NEWS reported, Deek is Eastern Orthodox but also has Armenian heritage through his father’s side, embodying two of the largest Christian Arab denominations in the state of Israel.

“The State of Israel attaches great importance to its relations with the Christian world and with its Christian friends around the world,” explained Foreign Minister Sa’ar in announcing the appointment.

“I am confident that George, a respected and experienced diplomat, will greatly contribute to the friendship and strengthening of the ties between the State of Israel and the Christian world.”
